if the officer shot him in the back that was a homicide....when I was a LEO trainee they told us to shoot at the suspect while he was coming on to us, if we shoot at that time it is concider a self defense, if we waited to had the sh$%t beat out of us and then shoot at the attacker while he is leaving, that was a homicide.... to make a long story short, kill him while he is coming on to you, and we were told, "kill" not play around and try to "disable"...and saves you a headache with the lawsuits too....
