Jury convicts former state Sen. John Ford in corruption case

A federal court jury today convicted former state Sen. John Ford on wire fraud and making false statements on official documents.

I just hope he gets the maximum and that it is not a concurrent sentencing so he spends a lot more time in jail.

Well, I certainly hope he gets a tough sentence. John Ford must be punished for his corruption and his arrogance.

Consecutive sentences would be what he deserves, 2 wire fraud X 20 and 4 counts of making false statements X 5 = 60 years. It will never happen!
Hell, he is the one who shot at a truck thru his moon roof a few years ago. I'm not sure that he got anything for that one either.
It makes me wonder what all he has done that he was not caught doing. The SOB will probably run for his old seat and get re-elected again.

I'm only half-joking when I say this, but the Memphis voters probably really would put him back in. They've elected a convicted felon before (Ricky Peete, who's now a two-time convicted felon). I suppose John Ford has his good qualities. But so did Richard Nixon, I'm sure. Both of them deserve exactly what they got.

He is 66, currently serving a 5 year sentence, in all likelyhood he will only get 2-3 more years. So best case, 8 years, worst case 7 years he will be in prison, if you want to call it that. This is according to the article in todays Commercial Appeal and is quoting what a "legal expert" said.

So he will be either 73 or 74, a convicted felon. Can he run for office again being a felon? If he can for at a minimum a local Memphis office, he will get voted in.
