The Right To Keep And Bear Arms (RTKBA)
The right to keep and bear arms did not originate fully-formed in the Bill of Rights in 1791; rather, the Second Amendment was the codification of the six centuries old responsibility to keep and bear arms for king and country that was inherited from the English Colonists that settled North America, tracing its origin back to the Assize of Arms of 1181 that occurred during the reign of Henry II.
Through being codified in the United States Constitution, the common law right was continued and guaranteed for the People, and statutory law enacted subsequently by Congress cannot extinguish the pre-existing common law right to keep and bear arms. This right is often presented in the United States as synonymous with the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.
About this forum...
The purpose of this forum is to provide a place where members of TNGunOwners.com can post updates, alerts, and other threads regarding the Right To Keep and Bear Arms (RTKBA) as embodied by the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution.
Threads of a political nature are okay here so long as they are centered upon issues directly related to RTKBA. All other political discussions should be posted in the Matters of Opinion forum instead.
Ideally, the RTKBA forum should be a place where the signal to noise ratio is strongly in favor of useful information that is of critical importance to supporters of the 2nd Amendment. If a moderator deems that a thread has become too chatty or is in danger of drifting off topic, it may be truncated, closed, split or moved at the moderator's discretion.
To that end, the RTKBA forum will focus more on information and less on opinion. :)
