What HE said! I do remember said hat.

Next time, there'll be more cameras, more guns, more ammo, more targets... we'll light that little valley UP!

Speaking of, what are the plans for next time?!? :D

I believe Phantom6 said everyone is invited to his range near Oak Ridge next month.

I can do Oak Ridge...

Depending on the date, I'll be there.

It has previously been the third Saturday of the month, however I don't know if this was ever an "official" decision or not. If that trend continues it would be the 16th of June.

Yup. Y'all are invited on 16 of June. Bring your hotdogs and hamburgers and we'll cook out. We have a nice campfire and grill area. I'll try to remember to take the camera out with me next time I go and take some pics.

3rd Sat. of every month is correct. We set it up that way so everyone could always mark their calendars in advance, even if they couldn't attend.

Aw man, If I am correct in my assumption, I'm not going to be able to make it to this next one guys. I have to do a little more checking on dates, but I think I'll have to skip this next month. I love cook outs!! Sounds like a blast! Again!!!!

hahahaha I think you need about 500 rounds minimum Lab. that drum you had went awful quick!

on the 23rd of June, I will be getting wed to Julie :D (yes yes I know..I'm lucky like that..) so I don't know if I can go...I WILL find out if Julie is up for it, then we BOTH may go! I have to find out if she has those days off.
if she doesn't, and I'm not engaged, I may be there

We're moving on the 8th and some friends are giving us a house-warming on the 16th, but I think it is at night. If that's the case then I will try to be there for at least a portion of the day.

Heck you can see American Grand Prix anytime. Just watch CSPAN. Kennedy, Kerry, Reid or some other liberal lefty are always making some nonsensical speach about... Oh, Grand PRIX. That would be grand prix as in the French pronunciation.

I was hoping to make it and meet some of you all but that is the day of the Georgia state IPSC championship. The third Sat. is when ORSA in Oak Ridge has their IPSC match so next time the get together is in Oak Ridge maybe I can make it afterwards.

That's just the voices inside your head talking. Listen to the voices... the voices are your friends... The voices are here to help you...

I can't make it. I have a wedding to attend that day. And another one the 17th in Georgia.

Well, I should be able to make it , depending on the actual location. Does anyone have the address to the range?

It's a private range that I am developing for a fellow right outside of Oak Ridge. Here below is a map.

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f303/MicroFx/Map_02.jpg

From Oak Ridge take TN 95 south out of town. When 95 and 58 meet, continue west on Hwy. 58. At first light after split turn right. This is Route 327 or Blair Rd. After the second time you cross the tracks you will turn at the first left which is about a mile down the road. This is Poplar Creek Rd. Go to the "T" and turn right. Look for 5th drive on left (crosses a bridge across the creek with a little white house). Look for further instructions posted on the board beside the drive.

Bring your lunch. We'll have a grill and campfire you can cook on. We'll be out there by 1000.

Branket
06-03-2007, 04:56 AM
A friend of mine from Georgia may be here on that day so what's the official policy on "outsiders"?

Phantom6
06-03-2007, 04:47 PM
Well, ah... we've already got plenty of target stands but, ah ... bring 'em along anyway. Yeah, bring 'em along anyway. At the very least he can get to know the kind of off-balanced folks you hang around with (present speaker included, of course).

Phantom6

I think I found it...I have it on high-zoom, to try and pick out the buidling. I have it marked ,and you can zoom out to see if I got the right general area.

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=35.959229~-84.421279&style=h&lvl=17&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&sp=Point.pzsnq77yy1qw_Sterling%20Range%3F___&encType=1

Youre dead on it. This is a private range that is only open upon invitation. I'll post a photo and address the day before the meet.

Branket
06-04-2007, 04:39 AM
Maybe you should post up an invitation to be printed out. Well, I have that pin saved in my collections, so I can just type my address and get directions.

This thread is the invitation. :D

Also--What is the time?

10:00am

Marswolf
06-04-2007, 01:27 PM
OK...we need geographic coordinates of the driveway turnoff. :D

Looks about 35°57.550'N; 84°25.108'W

I love my GPS unit.

This thread is the invitation. :D

10:00am

Branket is right. The thread is the invitation for the time and date stated. The range is on private property and not open to the general public.

We will be out there at 1000. Any time y'all want to show up after that is fine with me and up to y'all.

The owner of the property (John Sterling) requires a $10.00 range fee and waiver to be signed by all those entering the range. In exchange you will receive secure parking, public restroom facilities, shuttle service for the 400 meters between the parking area and the range, campfire area, use of a gas grill and food prep tables. I will provide a safe shooting environment, covered firing points, shooting tables, target stands, target backers, clay targets, a clay thrower, large drink cooler and ice so you can chill your drinks.

You provide your firearms , ammo and targets. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f303/MicroFx/emoticons/sniper.gif
Don't forget to bring your hot dogs, burgers, steaks, chicken or whatever and what ever fixin's you require.

A few things to mention:

You may charge magazines behind the line but do not load firearms until on the line.
If the range is cold you will see an orange flag displayed from the center support of the firing point cover or in the case of the steel range on the pole next to the firing box.
If you plan to shoot steel targets please do so with all lead bullets only. No FMJ or JHP or steel bullets on the steel range.
Anything except incendiary rounds (tracers) goes on the rest of the range.
These and all other range rules will be posted prominantly at the range. Here's an overhead image of the farm and range area. Don't know what the GPS coordinates are so I'll rely on Marswolf's input here. If you would like to get explicit directions (turn by turn complete with distance and landmarks etc.) and a cell phone number to call in case you get lost (there are NO signs) PM me and I will be happy to send them right out as I log on and check messages.

I edited the coordinates to make them more accurate, now that i know where the turnoff is, and also more GPS friendly.

142.67 miles one way from home by road.

wow!

VERY nice Mike!! dang it...now that its going on, I think I'm going to take a couple of family members that come down for the wedding..if they're here, and they want to go, I'm going!!! Julie will understand I hope.
All is well here, I just shelled out 2500 for a wedding band (another karat from kays jewlers) so Julie is happy!
I guess the guys that made the last meet will find relief in this range.
Mike, whats the longest range that you have for rifle? I was wondering because I intend to hand over the L1A2 to Boom for an extended stay at his house. its a 308 and is perfect for a SHTF scenario...so I'd like him to be able to get it sighted in for himself. If he can't make it, I'll wait till next month to bring it out.
Its also a great way for me to finagle a new rifle....julie doesn't like the weight of the L1...its 11 lbs,so she wants an AR in .308....so I can buy her an AR and keep the m1a2! :D
*sigh* its good to be King!

Mars wolf is right. No turning back now Towerclimber.

Bring anyone you wish. BTW the longest lane that I have at this point is only 100 yds. By this time next year that will be expanded to 200 yds. Gotta get a new chainsaw and a new back. :)

Phantom6
06-06-2007, 10:32 PM
... I'll just end up borrowing my grandfather's cleaninng set when I get back to the house.

That'll work. Clean your firearms every time you shoot and they will provide a lifetime of sure and steady service.

OK. How about a head count of those planning attendance?

Bring your hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ, chicken or whatever. We'll have a gas grill for your use for lunch. I'll provide ice water and a large cooler of ice for you to cool your non-alcoholic drinks in.

Also, for those that would like driving directions to the range, send me a PM and I'll send 'em right out to you along with my cell phone number so if you should get lost you can call and we'll talk you right on into the range.

BTW, the Oak Ridge Boys are playing at the Secret City Festival in town Saturday night from 1800 to 2200. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the open air show. Tickets for the show may be purchased at the gate ($18.00 each).
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f303/MicroFx/emoticons/Beer-Chug.gif Beer, soft drinks and food are sold at the Festival so now you got dinner covered too.

See y'all Saturday 16 June any time after 1000.

We had a good time as per usual. Of course now I have to buy a P22, but other than that it was a harmless day.

Cheryl and I had a blast, even though she did out shoot me with her new rifle. :) I still think her sights were off. I missed getting to shoot your guns, Boom. I guess I'll have to make up for it next time. :D

That range has great potential once ya get it all decked out Phantom. I'm especially interested in the town mock up, that'll be awesome. It was good meeting you and your family Cas, and Branket, tell Ash to watch out for those evil chairs. :)

Much fun.

That does sound like a blast. I'm interested to see that myself. Maybe Mike can arragne a little run thru of the course once he gets it all together. (Thinking to himself "for free":D).

Sorry I couldn't make it out guys. I thought about you guys all day. Trying to come up with a way that I could get done what I needed to and stilll make it over there:). Oh well, sounds like you guys had a good time regardless. Now I guess I'll have to anticapate next month. I'll try my best to keep that date open.

And dang:(, I missed the P22. I've been wanting to shot one of those. I keeping my eyes open for a .22 pistol, but don't know what I want yet. A buddy of mine just bought a Sig Misquito and I got a chance to shoot it the back of this. Nice pistol, even though I couldn't hit squat with it, but the owner could.

dotsun
06-17-2007, 11:58 AM
Yeah, also in the video is a good shot of my chin where I forgot to turn off the video when I thought dotsun was talking to me and I walked over. He wasn't adn I wasted 12 seconds out of the just under 3 hours of space I had.

I want to trade hats, or at least find out where you got yours! I have a same/similar hat in three-color woodland, but I need one to match my pants! (I say similar because mine has the strap around it for attatchment of foliage, and I don't know if yours has the vents)

The US Army has plenty of them, that's where I got mine. :)

Boom: The Walther shoots great, the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the safety was a little weird. You can cycle the hammer with the safety on, so I had some confusion as too whether I was shooting a dud round or I'd not flipped it off. It's bad when you're dumber than your equipment. LOL

Marswolf

Yeah, I let Ash shoot the P22 and she decided that she had to have one.
Hey Branket, next time I'll let her shoot the AR Match Target. Then you'll have to get her one of those. Of course, I could be persuaded for the right amount of green (somewhat less than the cost of the Colt).:rofl::rofl:

I'll have my pics ready to upload tomorrow.

It sounds like you guys had a blast..

*sigh*

well, one of my old army buddies called me today amidst my turmoil..hes' the groomsman at my wedding, and asked me for advice on a firearm...
You'd have to know him to understand...he married a German girl about 17 years ago and she's pretty liberal...and does NOT like firearms.
its my understanding that he wants me to help him pick out a firearm.
go figure. :D

Cody, thanks for the video!
I will definitely have to be at the next meet.

and um Julie STILL wants an ar in .308

I can't afford it right now..I just bought her a 1.0 carat wedding band.
its not much but it'll go with the 2.0 carat engagement ring and if it were any more, I'd ask it to start doing the dishes...

I probably won't be able to go to the next meet. We know nothing at all about the Tri-cities. If it turns out simple to get there, I'll probably go.
