I just picked up some more desiccant/silica gel packets for my 50 cal cans and said to myself: "self a dehumidifier would be cheaper in the long run you big dummy"(yes I call my self dummy)
so the question is what kind to get.can i get one that will fit in my 50 cal cans, and also I have to consider price being I will have to get one for each of my cans.
So,lets hear it....

Are you referring to cans of ammunition?
Linked or not ;)
I use damp-rid in my safe and have been pretty happy with it. I don't store my ammunition with anything, but usually ammo doesn't sit around for more than a year because I cycle it out.

I've never had any problem with humidity in my ammo. I store it in cans as well and have some stuff dating back to the 1970's in bandoleers, cartoons, links...

Yeah, its a non-issue imo, unless you live in a hut in the jungle. Most ammo is made out of lead/copper/brass which is corrosion resistant. Unless you dunk it water for 24 hours, it should be good to go.
Now older blue steel guns will rust if left in a safe or wherever you put them. A little desiccant in the old safe or in a case is a good safety precaution against rust, imo. Especially if you leave them in there 4-5 years without any attention.

I also see this an a non-issue. Ammo is designed to be fine with reasonable moisture,
If it rusts, you have a problem.
BTW, my normal environment is jungles.

I've got an electric dehumidifier from Cheaper Than Dirt... Plug it into a wall outlet for an hour or two to dry the silica, then unplug and place in the safe. Approx $27. Love it.
