So if I SBR a AK receiver, it doesnt matter how many imported parts are on it right? Just curious as to if this is correct.

I still think the 922R rule still applies. 6 US made parts.
Reciever = 1 part
Fire control = 3 parts
stock set - 1 part
gas piston - 1 part

That is correct. Once you register it as an NFA weapon then 922r no longer applies.

My advice to you would be to send a letter to BATFE's Firearms Technology Branch, and ask them. I've seen letters from FTB which say that it's ok to do that kind of stuff, and I've seen the opposite. For instance, BATFE has ruled both ways on the issue of threading the barrel of a Beretta CX-4 Storm, for installing a suppressor.
Remember, though, an FTB letter is only valid for the addressee. But, if you're able to get them to say that it's ok, you won't have to worry about future problems relating to the issue.

Frank is right, send a letter to cover your ass. The ATF is a big fan of split decisions from the letters I've seen.
