wow! an ariska! ww2 japanese rifle.
what caliber and do you have the date of manufacture?
I never got into japanese firearms for a couple of reasons...1. the calibers were too light for me, and 2. I never could figure out what I was reading..its all in japanese!

well..I was talking to a fella who was knowledgeable about firearms...and asked him about that.
does it have an aresenal mark on it?say...two circles inside another largert circle?
From what I understand there were a couple of major arsenals in Japan at the time, the Kohura arsenal and the Tokyo arsenal...the tokyo arsenal would be the only stamp that I would recognize. (you got me interested in the history of this rifle.)
I understand now why you spoke of the crysanthimum.
Those were ground off of the weapons captured by the United States....the one you have was most likely a battlefield war prize taken by a soldier...that makes it alot more valueable.
I will continue to ask questions to some fellas that I know and I'll see what sort of price range you could be looking at...heck, I want to know for myself!!!
You may want to find some new furniture for it though. It'll be worth less as a collectors item than if it had the original stock..but it'll be a rifle again!
