I'd like to add a shop to the list but it says I am not allowed to. What do I need to do?

My guess is that you need a few more posts or a little more time here.

Yes, as a new member you may not have full access to all areas of the forum. It is simply an automatic graduating ranking as you gain more posts and have been here longer. You will become a 'Registered Member' shorty, with a few more posts and in a week or so.

Nah, don't worry about it Mars.
American's are used to authority figures who don't know what the rules or policies of the job they hold are.
Wait, was that Bill Clinton that just walked by??

Update...
I have added a forum Notice that is shown to New Members at the top of every page that explains to them the 14 Day / 10 Posts probationary period and why it exists. Hopefully this will cut down on the confusion.
After a new member makes 10 posts and has been with us for 14 days, the forum software automatically upgrades them to Registered Member status and lifts the forum restrictions.

Will that also apply to the sale/trade areas?

If you visit those forums now, you should see a notice posted at the top of the page talking about legal issues and also mentioning the restriction on New Members.
