Jonesing for my Kimber

I've shipped my Kimber BACK to Wilson, as I had some spare cash from working on a natural gas pipeline in Texas last month--I never even saw it before I sent it back, just sent my little brother a work-order form and asked him to take it to FedEx.
I shipped it out for night sights and front-strap checkering the first time, and now it's back for Armor-Tuff, a serrated slide top and rear, and a handful of additional minor changes. Basically, it will be a Wilson on a Kimber frame, for a little over half the money.
My problem is, I now have ZERO 1911's in TN to carry/shoot, and I'm starting to get the itch--BAD. I'm mulling over buying another one, but it will more than likely be a 9mm full-size, and I prefer to carry 4" guns. I thought about an EMP, but any parts would have to come from Springfield--with a "normal" 1911, almost anything can be made to work.
Any ideas or recommendations on what to buy? Looking to keep it under $1k, as that's all the fun-money I have at the moment, until I go back to the pipeline in July, after summer classes.
(Yes, working on a natural gas pipeline is very lucrative--but I'm mostly working down there to pay off all debts before I leave for USMC boot camp next summer.)
