In Tennessee open or concealed carry is permisible by law with a permit. Many are of the opinion that conceal carry is best. I'm not sure why that is. They have no statistics to back their claim. They often state, "Well, the bad guy will shoot the person with the visible gun first." I can't agree with that statement.
