    LWRC 6.8 Pistol Question

    Guys,

I have a question, I am wanting to order a PSD LWRC 6.8 that is an NFA item, what I may do instead is order the M6A2 Pistol in 6.8, now my question is if I decide to make it a rifle later (add a butt stock) with the proper NFA paperwork and stamp, would the receiver have to be engraved? and what all is involved with that process? the reason I am thinking of going with the pistol set up is that my dealer is not a Class3 and will let me lay it away for a year. Any help would be appreciated

Maybe Obama will get pulled over for speeding in Arizona, then end up getting deported

    I believe if it's registered a pistol...it's always a pistol...it can't be legally altered into a SBR. I'm sure there's more to it than that...but I believe that's the cliff notes version.

Several of the vendors here are class III dealers...not sure how long their lay away policies are.
Now I think you could buy the pistol, leave it as is, register a stripped lower, pay the tax, pay the waiting tax then put together a SBR with the pistol upper and the stripped lower once the stamp lands and be legal.

Dont know where you got your information but it is totally false. You CAN take a pistol and make a SBR out of it. All it takes is a form 1, fingerprints, and $200 to ATF. Then you have to engrave the gun with your information (Name, City, State).

Be polite. Be professional. But have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

Actually, it is the opposite. Once a rifle, always a rifle. You can convert a pistol into a rifle or SBR (if barrel is less than 16"), but once it is a rifle, it is a rifle from there on.

You would have to engrave the receiver with your name, city and state. I have seen the engraving done by Hero-Gear, and it was very good. Also, Orion Arms (Orion Arms ) does excellent engraving for SBRs.

Edit: Damn, I'm a slow typer.

If you convert the pistol to SBR, you can Form 1 it yourself, or have a SOT convert it hand transfer it on a Form 4.

Either way, the manufacturer has to be engraved on the receiver:
    Form 1 = you
    Form 4 = SOT
