I'm a year or more from having the funds to get into 3 gun, but I find this competition very interesting and am looking at it as a long term goal.


As for background, I'm a good shot as far as hunters go but I'm not a competition shooter by any stretch of the imagination. I'd be looking to get into it for fun and to see how I improve over time as well as how I match up against the real shooters.


Now for questions....

1 - Are there any clubs around Nashville that do a lot of 3 gun?

2 - What would be a good starter set up? (By that, I mean forgiving to a non-competition shooter and forgiving to his wallet.) I'm thinking a Glock in .40 or 9mm, but am uncertain on rifle and shotgun. Obviously, I can find weapons I drool over for top dollar, but I'm more interested in getting some the best bang for the buck. (I can shoot the BEST weapon in the world, but it's still Mutt who's shooting it.)

3 - What are the competitions like? I know the basics, but it sounds like they can be set up in a wide variety of ways. (Something that really interests me.)


Asside from all that, I'm just interested in hearing what people think of 3 gun and enjoying the conversation.
