It was an evening out that college students Leslie Pope and John Wagner will long remember. Not only did they get what they called lousy service, they got handcuffed and arrested.
All over a $16.35 tip.
They were with a half-dozen friends at the Lehigh Pub in Bethlehem last month, so the establishment tacked what it called a mandatory 18 percent gratuity onto the bill of about $73, according to reports. Pope and Wagner refused to pay.
"You can't give us terrible, terrible service and expect a tip," said Pope, a 22-year-old Moravian College senior who's a Pottsville native, according to the Lehigh Valley Express-Times.
They had to find their own napkins and cutlery while their waitress caught a smoke, had to ask the bar for soda refills, and had to wait over an hour for salad and wings, they told NBC10.
The pub, which was very busy that night, took the $73, but then called the cops, who treated the matter as a theft. The menu clearly states, "18 percent gratuity added to check of parties of 6 of more," and a similar message is printed on receipts, a pub employee said this morning.
A court date is scheduled for next month.
What would they do if it happened again? a reporter asked.
"Honestly, probably gonna pay the tip anyway," said Pope, prompting Wagner, 24, a Lehigh University grad student, to laugh.

DMV Wait Times Could Increase To 2 Hours

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Department of Safety proposed cuts at a Thursday budget hearing that would affect driver's license fees and license station wait times.
Closing six driver's license stations and cutting 34 positions was proposed, resulting in wait times at driver's license stations to go from 45 minutes to an expected two hours.
The driver's license stations that would close are locations in LaVergne, Lawrence, Weakley, Hamblen, Anderson and Tennessee Towers.
The department would also eliminate a third of Capitol security, half of the air team and leave only one D.A.R.E. officer. An additional reduction of 22 positions might be necessary in metropolitan service centers, like Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga and Knoxville.
The department proposed cutting up to 85 troopers, including 25 road troopers. Scott, Bledsoe, Meigs, Sequatchie, Hancock, Johnson, Cannon, Clay, Pickett, Trousdale, Moore, Lake and Houston counties would lose troopers.
Gov. Phil Bredesen suggested raising driver's license fees to avoid trooper cuts.
All cuts are proposed. Nothing is final until the governor makes a decision and the Legislature passes it.

I work in an industry that "tree huggers" cannot stomach very well. In the past we have received "love notes" from said huggers. I work real late some nights and have often looked out in the parking lot for "people" before I head to the car.

We are in the Nashville Airport area (elm hill pike) and it seems that we have a shooting range that I was not told about.

We have a window that has taken a shot this week and it looks like a good size caliber by looking at the hole and the bullett that is inside the office.

Anywho, if I can get a few extra range passes from the office we can have a TGO outing and pop off a few.

All joking aside... I am not fond of the idea that some nut would shoot at an office in a business/residential area :tinfoil:

Not really hunting but more random.

From today, I was taking pictures of an office building, field across the street, behind the Walmart in Collierville. They were about 100 yards, pics taken with a Cannon PowerShot SD 790 IS Elph. 10Mega Pixels, fully zoomed. 3X. There were 4 in all, 2 bucks, 2 does. They, the does anyway, would take off running for about 40-50 feet, then stop, they were just playing, not a care in the world.

There are 237 millionaires in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. That's 44 percent of all members of Congress. One percent of the public at large are millionaires.

You see how much out of touch they are with the working people that elected them? I would be very much in favor of a collective cleansing in the next elections if it were possible to uniformly back one NEW candidate for each office. How do we do that? Would a rush of newbies into Washington be a good thing? Might be the next best thing to a revolution that one of our forefathers recommended we do every 25 years.

Sorry for the rant, but the stats of the first paragraph are ludicrous!
