I'm gonna try out the 160 grain Nosler accubond this year in my AI. I don't have a Nosler manual and wonder if anyone could help me. From their site they don't list any powder that I have in stock. I'm abundant in Varget,RL-7,RL-25,Magpro,Tac,IMR 4895/4064. I'm almost sure someone has a recipe for the 4895 or 4064 out there?

I loaded some .357 mag with the Hornady 158gr LSWC and have gotten conflicting powder charge recipes, some manuals say start at 5.9 grains and others say start at 4.8.Is this loading at 5.9 grains going to be a little to hot for a lead bullet.I am using the Bullseye by Alliant. This load according to the Lee manual is going to be at over 1100 fps out of a 6 inch barrel.Any experience with this anyone.

9mm in 147 grain subsonic

I know the reason why, which is to get the heaviest bullet you can yet keep that bullet subsonic for suppressor use.

But why not make ammunition...

I know the reason why, which is to get the heaviest bullet you can yet keep that bullet subsonic for suppressor use.

But why not make ammunition using the same bullet but with more velocity and subsequently more energy?

I happened upon a recipe using Vihtavouri powder that pushes a 147 grain bullet to 1200+ fps out of a pistol (6.9 grains of 3N38). I loaded some ammo using the 147 grain Gold Dot to try out. I have fired a lot of this load out of a Glock as well as a rifle and never seen any pressure issues at all, not even any "smileys" with the Glock. It definitely has abit more of a kick to it.
9mm Load Data

I would love to use this for self defense but I don't want the stigma of using handloads in a self defense situation because of all the legal ramifications.

This might also help with intregrally suppressed guns like the MP5. If you fire subsonic ammunition out of a MP5, which is designed to keep supersonic ammo below the speed of sound, you wind up with a projectile that is well below the speed of sound.

I read a post a while back in which a guy was hit in the forehead with a 147 grain bullet fired from a MP5 but the bullet never entered the skull. They determined it was because the already subsonic rounds were fired from the integrally supressed MP5 reducing the velocity even more. The bullet was so slow that it didn't have enough energy to enter the skull. It knocked the guy out but he later made a full recovery.

Chrony, parallax, trajectory

Finally got a chrony. It is smaller and lighter than I expected from the pictures in the catalog. Which is fine because it will be less trouble to...

Finally got a chrony. It is smaller and lighter than I expected from the pictures in the catalog. Which is fine because it will be less trouble to tote to the range.

But until having the device in hand, hadn't given much thought how to avoid shooting it to pieces. Instructions say the bullets need to pass about 6 inches over the center of the chrony.

Ferinstance if a rifle is zero'd for 50 yards, and the chrony is set up 6 or 10 feet away, then the bullet is gonna be some amount lower than the point of aim when it passes the chrony.

Or if a pistol hits point of aim at 10 yards, and the chrony is 6 or 10 feet away, same deal, bullet will be some amount lower than point of aim.

Any tips on guestimating how high to aim, to compensate for parallax/trajectory, and avoid shooting the chrony?

Was thinking worst case, could set up a "real estate sign" type of cardboard portable target holder a couple of feet behind the chrony, and test the point of aim versus point of impact before moving the chrony into position?

I tend to over-think everything, but OTOH it would be embarrassing to shoot the chrony! ;)

Bullet seating depth inconsistent

I need some help from those more knowledgeable than I am. I am using a Hornady Lock N Load Progressive to load .45 ACP. I am using mixed brass, 200gr SWC HG68 style bullets from Black Bullets Intl, 4.7 gr WST powder, Wolf Primers, and Hornady dies. The problem is the bullet seating depth. When I set it up according to the instructions with the press and with the dies which is to use just one round in the press and keep messing with the depth going from long to short until it's right, the rounds are too long when all stations are filled. When I fill all stations and then set the depth, I get a variance of around .005 in seating depth. Any one have any idea what I am doing wrong. On a side note, I am also having problems with the primers not seating fully, I cannot seem to push forward enough to get them completely seated. Any insights on these issues?
Thanks

I got them at Walmart and took them back today. I know they have a no ammo return policy but I took a several of the duds with me that had multiple firing pin strikes. I actually got them to exchange the Remington for Federal. Their not supposed to by store policy.

I will never buy the Remington 22's again. They were horrible.
