i just picked up a 1892 winchester saddle ring carbine but the ring is missing from the saddle ring and i'm planning on buying a new one.....my question is how do you get the ring out of the side of the receiver? does it press in or do i have to take it apart and remove some screws? i have taken alot of winchesters apart but never a SRC so i'm not sure. i know the ring has a split in the middle of it but i'm sure you don't bend it apart because it would never be round again. anybody know how to get it off before i take her apart?

Want to start Duracoating but the wife won't let you use the oven?

You can have one for FREE! All you have to do is come pick it up.

This Tuesday, our 7 yr old oven started flashing "F1" on the display and the temperature kept going up in it. (Wife was baking a cake.) I think she wanted a new one anyway. I looked it up online and it appears the main board (around $160) may be out. I haven't tinkered with it to know for certain.

It is a 7 yr old, Frigidaire, flat top, with a stainless steel front. It's in good shape and I'll try to get a picture on here tomorrow.

The wife wanted to toss it but I said I knew someone that would want it because their wife wouldn't let them Duracoat in the house. :drama:

First PM with "I'll take it!" gets it.

Hello, Well this happened earlier this year, Lost my mom to a house fire( smoke inhalation) and they lost the entire contents to the fire.

Dad had ( unbeknown to me) 3 pistols that burnt in the fire. I would like to replace them as they were originally my grandfather's and his father's guns.

I need some help on finding replacements or if they could somehow be restored to functionality.

I know 2 were revolvers. One was a .32 and the other was a .38
The last one was a .22 Colt Woodsman semi-auto.

if i find out the makes and models of the revolvers i'll post here later( just don't have all the info on those right now.

Any help would be great. thanks.

winchester 1200 magazine spring length
My dad borrowed my sons 12ga to go goose hunting and in the field he decides he better put the plug in the gun. Well the magazine spring went on vacation and we haven't seen it since. I ordered one for Wolfe spring it is 40 inches long and says fitting is required but I can't find the proper length for the gun. Does anyone know the length or have a Winchester 1200 that would measure it for me? I saw somewhere on google 36" but Im not certain that is correct.

How to stop constant rust?

I am having an issue with a couple of my guns constantly getting little specs of rust on them.

I am having an issue with a couple of my guns constantly getting little specs of rust on them.

I have an old model Marlin Model 60

and my brand new Kahr CW-9

everytime I put either of them away for more than a couple of days they get tiny traces on rust on them.

The Marlin on the outside of the barrel and tube.

The Kahr on the slide.

I guess my house is just damp?

What can I do to keep this from happening?

I clean the guns regularly and after I shoot them but it still happens.

I have tried keeping them in factory case, in my sock drawer, and several other places. Nothing changes.

I am also having trouble getting some of the spots off the Kahr. I let it sit with a good amount of oil on it and rubbed with a terry cloth for a good while and it didn't help much.

I feel horrible I have let this happen to my beautiful new pistol but I don't know what to do, or what I could have done different.

I have a Walther P22 with gun-metal slide and it has never had this problem and I have had it here in the house over a year, whereas the Marlin and Kahr are new.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

This summer I noticed that my Marlin 60 was having a lot of light primer strikes, so I spent a good amount of time fiddling with it. I took it apart and cleaned it, shot it, took it apart and cleaned it again, shot it some more...and so on. I ended up using a file to sharpen the end of the firing pin a little bit and made sure to shoot it a little wet and that has pretty much taken care of the problem.

However, this weekend, when I was up at the Cheatham TWRA (don't ever go there without full body armor...flag city) I was watching my wife shoot and it started acting up again. I watched very closely and discovered that the problem was that the bolt was not closing completely after each shot, which meant the firing pin was just barely touching the cartridge. I sprayed a couple drops of CLP onto the bearing surfaces inside the receiver and it was good to go but I still have an itch that needs scratchin...

I think that a stiffer recoil spring would give the bolt the extra "oomph" that it needs to completely close the breech. The problem being that nobody makes a stiffer recoil spring for a Marlin 60. So the question to you folks is: could I just heat the spring up cherry red and drop it into some water to stiffen it up a bit and take care of the problem?

i have some in 30 30 and you can let the loading gate close you just have to push a little harder and it will push the shell into the mag tube and then you can load another one in there. any ideas?

While working on my Saiga conversion, and tapping the hole for the bullet guide screw, I broke the tap in the hole. If I had been paying closer attention, this would not have happened, since I actually had gone out the other side (gone further than I needed to) already.

Anyhow, does anyone have ANY idea how to remove a broken tap without messing up the hole? I hear that my best hope is an EDM machine, but wouldn't know who in Nashville could do that sort of thing. Perhaps a gunsmith would know how to remove the broken tap? Does anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks.
