well, one of my customers came into my shop today and had a little gift for me! he gave me his colt government model 1911 that he bought in 1966 when he was a marine. he shot it a couple times and then put it up keeping it loaded and ready to go. it is a military issue and has marked on it "property of US army." it has some wear on it but is a great shooter(i took it from him 2 years ago and cleaned it, shot it and gave it back to him). i'm pretty excited! i know you guys want pictures but that will have to come later :D

The last time I regularly used a 45 was in the Navy, a few decades ago. I'm now in the market to add a 1911 to the arsenal. I don't want a 5" bbl., I would rather have a 4 - 4.25" bbl firearm. I'm not picky as far as finish color, SS, 2-tone or Black are fine as long as the gun looks good in that finish (subjective I know).

So far my choices seem to be:
S&W SW1911PD (108283) 4.25"
S&W SW1911 (108310) 4.25"
Springfield PX9115LP 4"
Springfield PX9142LP 4"
Kimber Pro Carry II 4"
Kimber Pro CDP
Sig 19GS0014 4.25"

Who in the Nashville area would have most of these guns? Franklin Gun Shop (only been there once)? Any tips or advice?

TIA

I am going to be looking for a practice .22 pistol for my wife.

I want a .22 so we can shoot it allot for the cheap at the range.

I would like to find something SMALL, around the size of a Walther p22, but not sure I want a Walther p22.

I am wondering if S&W makes anything around that size, semi or revolver.

I will check back after work. Thanks.

Price is very important on this. I don't want to break the bank.

S&W probably first choice, but feel free to list other major brands.

Key it has to be for small hands. She can now correctly hold a full size pistol. Very short fingers.

Is there really that much difference between those two 9mms besides the appearances?

I'm seeing the P11 is in $250-300 range which is great for me. Not really sure of price range for PF9?

My situation - I'm getting back to jogging and I know the time change is gonna be here before you know it and I'd like to have something light, also in 9mm (since most of my guns are in 9mm so I'd like to keep it in same family), small, maybe a shoulder holster under my jacket or long sleeve shirt? Or would that show up well?

Or is there something I can wear it concealed? I usually sport a tshirt and gym shorts...winter will be jacket and long gym pants.

Share your experiences....

P.S. I've created a poll for PF9 vs P11

So I put the AR build on the backburner for a few months since I wont be carrying it as my EDC and decided to focus my resources on my new carry. I picked up a used Springer GI and it needed some appearance help and figured I may as well add some better parts as well. I ordered the following and will update the this thread as parts get put on

VZ Alien G10 grips in black
Wilson Combat front strp
Wilson Combat drop-in beavertail
Wilson Combat 2 piece full length guide rod
Ed Brown Commander style lightweight hammer
Ed Brown Videki National match trigger

I still have to order the Wilson Combat sear spring, Wilson Combat snag-free 3 dot sights, STI extended thumb safety, Les Baer custom match sear, and I am wanting to drop the trigger dow to like a 4.5#. Once it is all on Ill be sending it to CCP for ceracoating.

What is the difference in the "N" or an "S"?

I just got back my dads 29-2 nickel plated that the serial # starts with "N". It has a scope mount that the bolts have been stripped. Going to get those removed. Really in good shape, my dad killed several deer with it. My brother had it for years, long story, and just got it back to me.

Must say ive owned my glock 19 for almost 2 years now and have put well over 6000 rounds through it. And i recently picked up a used Smith MP 9MM Full Size and absolutley must say its a excellent pistol. Here is my 1st mag at 7 yards.. with 1 aimed at the upper 7

The glock was shot ok.. but must say felt recoil and even the STOCK trigger was OK. Hard to fell the reset on the MP but ofc the glock is like a rock and can definatly feel the reset and a tad more recoil. Must say this ones gonna go to the MP. With that said i HIGHLY doubt ill ever sell my g19.. that gun is just the ****. end story lol haha :) Think a MP 9c is the future and some stippling to the MP.

So I was in need of a new carry gun since, I sold off the M&P to cover the busted hot water heater and I decided to go with the Ruger SR9 (2 tone). Reasons I picked the SR9 were:
#1 cost - it's downright reasonable.
#2 features - for the cost it is packed with features many others priced higher don't have.
#3 - ergos - feels really good in the hand and is extremely slim.
#4 - looks - I know it's opinion, but I think they look really good. Especially the 2 tone.
#5 trigger - stock trigger and reset were actually pretty good.

I know Ghost is making a trigger mod for the SR9, but is there anything else I just have to have on my new SR9?

BTW - I foresee having to get the SR9c down the road!:D

My daily carry gun is a G26. I LOVE the platform. I dont really dislike the grip but i feel it has some room for improvement. I bought a houge slip on today and like some aspects of it. I read some reviews (after the purchase) and found out about some slipping issuess. So far, it feels good but i haven't had a chance to go to the range. Is this really a issue? I went ahead and cut out a little extra space around the magazine release just to ease my mind until i get to the range. Please give me your opinions on aftermarket grips......

Also, is there any reason not to buy a $6.00 plug to fill the void near the magazine well? I feel like i read somewhere that it was there by design but i cant remember for sure......

Thanks,
