I currently live in Spring Hill on roughly 3/4 of an acre. My wife and I are looking for about 2-10 acres in the Williamson county area near Arrington, and also around Spring Hill. We are just looking for land now but will evenutally build a house there. Are there any laws in TN that deal with how much land you need in order to shoot handguns and rifles on your own property? I will not consider the plot unless I could sight in my rifles, target practice with a handgun, etc.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have an issue with my new Ruger SR556. Here is the scenario:

When the 30 round magazine (MagPul Pmag) is loaded to capacity (or 1 or two less than) the first round fired will not eject.

The only way I have found to clear the rifle is to remove the upper and use a cleaning rod and tap it out with a hammer. The lip of the case does show where the ejector tried to pull it out.

I bought some cheap Russian ammo (Tula .223 Rem ) and that might be the cause however I am confused that it only happens with a full mag.

After I use this ammo up I will stick with brass.

Any input would be appreciated

So Sunday I was able to take the DD out to my friends land and fire off some rounds.

BIG PROBLEMS!

This is the single trigger version of the DD.

First load. First trigger pull, BANG!
Second Trigger pull, wasn't really a pull, nothing happened.

After recocking and going through the motion a few times, we finally got it to fire the second round.

The day continues on, and we are shooting the DD frequently. I was shooting target loads. Pulled the trigger, and the things nailed me hard. I had to double check I was shooting target loads, because it felt like 00 buck.

My friend mentioned it didn't sound right. After opening the breach we realized both shells had fired at once. 1 trigger pull, 2 bangs. Big trouble.

This occurred 3 or 4 more times while we were out there. Needless to say the gun is going back to Stoeger. I don't feel like owning a shot gun that decides to become illegal every now and again.

I will report back when I get the fixed/new DD from Stoeger.

I tried search with not much luck.

After unloading a shotgun, or any gun for that matter, should I pull the trigger or just leave it?

I know clearing an M16, pulling the trigger was part of the deal. But what does everyone else do?

I've always heard dry firing was bad.

I am wanting to get my first AR, and I'm looking for guidance. I've looked at Bushmaster M4 Patrolman and the DPMS on buds. I also looked at a Rock River Arms AR. I don't really know what to look for. Should I go with the DPMS for $650 and add everything I would want to it? Or should I go with a separate upper and lower and do the build? I am not looking to add optics right off the bat.

Alright everybody lets start another caliber debate.

I am looking into getting an AR15 and need to choose the caliber so I can build the rifle around that.

I really wanted to go with a 6.5 grendel after seeing it on future weapons, but it does not seem to be main stream yet and would most likely not serve my purposes well.

So how about some input? Looking for a round that can get me good dependable shots at about 300-700 yrds. This will not be a 1000yrd rifle, but if it happens to serve that purpose as well with little to no extra expensive then that is icing on the cake. I also want something practical to shoot, easily available, not too expensive, etc. And would also like for it to serve more than one purpose. By this i mean a round I can use in a 16-24 inch or so rifle with reliability. I know this last condition will be a little harder to meet so it is not that important, but would be nice.

So, does anyone have a reccomendation or would like to convert me to their caliber of choice?

I am looking to buy something in this catagory and am looking for some input from you guys in the know. My first thought was the Rugger sr 556 talked to some local dealers and some said it was better than a bushmaster some said it was way overpriced . Best price so far is 1575,.00 in New Hampshire no sales tax. I live a couple of miles from the Bushmaster plant in Windham Me. Not looking to go to war just want a reliable firearm.

Thanks
Marc

PS
I am willing to spend around 1500.00
