New law. On line wine sales
WooHoo! Didn't hear about this at all, 'till tonight. As of 1 July, we can purchase wine on line for home delivery. Might not be a big deal for some, but since moving here I havn't found a single store that sells fine wines. Getting my order together tommorow.

Bear in mind that it may take a while for that info to get to the online merchants. Simply telling them that it's ok to ship to TN now probably isn't good enough, their legal folk will probably have to research it before they'll ship anything to TN.

It doesn't come from the winery, it comes from on line distribution houses. Places like Wine Chateau or The Wine Buyer. Tn. was one of about 7 states that refused to allow on line sales under the assumption that they would loose the tax revenue. They lost the tax from me because I don't buy the overpriced plonk they sell around here as wine anyway. They've finally fixed that.

Anyone have a link to the new law?
Edited: Nevermind, found it. As it appears to me, they have to be licensed by the state of TN before they will be allowed to ship anything into the state to an individual.

I find it really hard to believe that you cannot find wine you want in or around Nashville.
Nashville has a couple of the biggest wholesale houses in the state. I know for a fact they sell fine wines. Heck Knoxville is way more hick than Nashville and we got French wine and everything around here.

So can I have Boone's Farm and the Mad Dog sent right to my door? ![]() Have never ordered wine online (busta rhyme) but I went to wine.com today and the first thing they ask is where it's shipping to. TN was an option. The prices were not. When we get our wine on around here it's usually of the Blackstone Merlot variety. You know, the $10 stuff. |
