photography...well camera (d60) help?
I'm in a little hot water here, while on an outing my wifes d60 fell out of the car onto the ground while under my care
it has no visible damage to it what-so-ever but will not turn on... everyone has said it just has to be sent back to nikon, could take forever and they could charge out the wazoo. any suggestions?

Sending it back to Nikon is your best bet. Their customer service centers are similar to Canon's in that they are usually quick to address issues like this and give you an estimate for repair. Too many pro photogs out there use Nikon gear for them to drag their feet along and not respond quickly.

Yeah, whatever you do, don't open it up and try to fix it. You will fail at whatever goal you set forth with. If you've ever seen the inside of a digital camera, it's like 25 computers crammed into the space inside. Also, it will void your warranty.

Sadly most manufacturer's warranties will not cover physical damage. However, if you don't want to send it to Nikon you could try to take it to a Wolf Camera if you have one close. The problem with DSLR's is that there are so many parts that it's difficult to quickly locate the problem which causes the delays in repair turn around time. Nikons are great cameras but unfortunately, as is the case with many electronic devices, the cost of repairs can quickly equal or exceed the cost of replacement depending on the problem.
