    Tennessee State Guard

The purpose of the TNSG is to prove a professional complement of personnel to support the Governor of the State of Tennessee and the Adjutant General by assisting the Tennessee Army National Guard as a force multiplier and by assisting civil authorities when requested providing a variety of serviced such as ceremonial, security, military funeral honors, and medical aid. The TNSG is regulated by the Tennessee State Code Annotated and serves only within the borders of the State.

The Tennessee State Guard is not a club. It is a military force that responds to community requests for homeland security, EMA response, and community service. The State Guard provides a public service for the people of Tennessee, and members train as soldiers to assist TEMA and local communities when needed. You will be serving with other people who are patriotic and have a knowing respect for military preparedness, and you will be carrying on a tradition of volunteerism that dates back to the creation of Tennessee as a state. Most challenging of all, you will have an opportunity to use the training you have acqired in military and civilian life to help build the cadre of the Tennessee State Guard

Correct, the TNSG is not authorized to carry firearms by the Military Department of the State of Tennessee.

No disrespect intended, I have talked to a few of the higher ranked men and know they are veterans and served in combat arms. But the no firearms bit tells me the boots are not trained and or not responsible. Maybe there is some liability issues there but I cant see the need for this unit. If they are the last to fall in under hard times to back up the NG or homeland security they need to be trained and armed. Most veterans who have a viable MOS that would fit into civilian life are working it now.

There's no way I'd sign up to be an UNARMED Homeland Security anything.
sorry...allow CCWs to carry...have a very basic rife training course..for a fee andhave the people bring their own rifles and ammo...something. Unarmed people in uniform are nice targets

I concur. You cannot "guard" anything without some type of weaponry and training.
The United States Constitution (c)1791. All Rights Reserved.

Welcome to Tennessee, patron state of shootin' stuff.

    Definition of a Veteran:
A veteran - whether active duty, reserve, national guard or retired - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." - That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.
