winchester 94ae loading problem

i have never had a 94 ae in 357 mag(i do now), this may be normal because of how short the shells are but when i'm loading it, if i let the loading gate close, the shell falls behind the loading gate and wont let me put anymore shells in it, you have to hold the loading gate open with the shell you loaded in there and than load another in and hold it open.....
i have some in 30 30 and you can let the loading gate close you just have to push a little harder and it will push the shell into the mag tube and then you can load another one in there. any ideas?
