Your employer has a "firearms" policy that "doesn't apply to personal vehicles"(read your employers policy over and over...DOES it apply to your car or just your person??????)

Not sure what that means BUT I will now be bringing my gun to work AND keeping it in the car.

Just keep it in the car..unloading it when you arrive would be an extra "measure" of caution in case the "issue" ever came up.

Think so far that your in good shape(ie. following the law)...maybe huh??!! Who really knows??

When should you reload???

So far so good.

Now you like to hit the gym after work which involves going to one of the posted parks.

Are you still legal by entering the park BUT not carrying it with you and keeping it in the car.

Unloaded/Loaded/concealed/locked up in the trunk(not much good in there!)

Now lets say someone attempts to mug/rob/carjack you while your leaving the premises. I wonder where you would stand in court IF you were in your vehicle.

This is probably covered in another post..If so please feel free to delete/redirect...but I'm interested to hear what some of the employer policies actually say AND how you could maybe STILL carry with you while going to and from work. If your like me and work far away that involves ALOT of time unarmed.

I'd like to think (HOPE) that your car is your castle too!!! I spend nearly 12 hours a week in it!!!!
Leave it in your car.Why bring things like this up.There times where you shouldnt discuss everything. What is not said sometimes is for the best.Leave it in your vehicle, dont say anything.I wouldnt pull up,park, then mess with it.Have it put away when you arrive.

+1. I, too, work on a Federal installation where they have the right to search your vehicle and your person. Other than that, mums the word.

Well mainly because what is the point of having it locked up in your trunk enroute? I might as well just lock it up at home.

I'm trying to come up with what seems like the proper way to handle a situation where it appears that you can bring it ON THE PROPERTY so long as it's in your car.

Ditto for the AEDC...Do they have blanket permission to inspect your vehicle in the WMA/Road (non base areas)?? Who know's?? This would also apply to traveling through Cherokee NF....IF you stop, ya sure "mum's the word" BUT what if you are approached while taking a pit stop? I think "probable cause" would apply especially if your doing nothing but stopping for a rest room break...UNLESS they do just have blanket permission to check you out like inside a military base.

This would allow you to carry BEFORE and AFTER work while still respecting and following what seems to be a fairly reasonable workplace policy..

NO $#%#@ your not going to carry it into the work building.

Federal employee policy's don't leave any fudge room but many other employers may have on similar to mine where "mum's the word" basically is the policy>>>bring but keeping it in your vehicle is OK.

Sorry to offend so many with my stupid questions, I'll do my best to come up with some better questions, like what kind of cheese is the moon made out of?? I swear it's just gotta be swiss but I hear it's cheddar.......

Law VS Policy

You are probably legal to carry your gun in your car or on your person, but breaking company policy. I have carried at various jobs many times legally, but would have been fired if found out......again nothing illegal....but if a company doesn't like you carrying a gun and they find out you have one on their property...they can ask you to leave...and good chance you won't get unemployment. Do not let anyone see your gun...or find out about it...or even hint that you have a gun on company property....I follow Bill Clinton's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy. The best thing to do if you do decide to keep one in your car or on your person is to keep it well concealed and NEVER EVER tell anyone you do so...don't tell neighbors...friends...if you have a spouse that talks a lot don't tell that spouse. Keep it all to yourself.

Tennessee does not treat automobiles as 'domiciles'/homes as far as weapons like Louisiana does. Louisiana treats your automobile as a constitutionally protected place (including on school property)...thus you don't need any sort of license/permit to keep one loaded, concealed, unconcealed, or unloaded in your car. You can have a loaded handgun in your car there if you are 18....it might be younger for rifles and shotguns.

Very good advice indeed!!

NEVER EVER tell anyone

Anyone connected on the "Hill"...there's something to propose:
Louisiana treats your automobile as a constitutionally protected place

Sound's like a great idea...would solve many issues surrounding carrying on a "non carry" property with no intention of taking it out of the vehicle.

Thanks razorback2003!
