I hunt my uncle's farm in Virginia every Thanksgiving. It's a big family get together and he has 1500 acres that he was born on. It's a great time....even when you don't get a deer.

Going to northern Missouri to deer hunt for 7 days of rifle season. Leaving TN on the 12th or 13th. Start hunting on the 14th and hunt all week. There are some huge deer up there and I saw a monster killed last year. I am holding out for a wall hanger because I can only take 1 buck.

Here is what some of the guys staying at the same lodge killed last year
South Fork Resort Picture Gallery - Home > Hunting

This was killed on the opposite side of the ridge I was hunting

This buck field dressed a little over 300 pounds. They guy is about the same.

BOW kill from this year

Hey Whiskey, We will be on the road at the same time. MO is good! Did you see they raised the prices for out of state-rs this year? Oh well, still great hunting! Your right about holding out. I'm hearing rifle will be on the tail end of rut if not post rut this year. Last year it was right on. Good luck!

Yeah I noticed the license costs. I really had a lack luster hunt last year. The wind about blew us away and I saw very few deer. I hope the rut holds out a little for us, but I heard the same as you. Good luck to you too.

I'm not deer hunter this season, so off to South Dakota for my first pheasant hunt. I'm hoping that the 3 roosters/day limit will be enough.

When are you going? I will be going the 2nd week of December. I had planned to go 2 weeks ago, but all of the rain made it just impossible to have a good hunt. I went to Nebraska that week instead.

I prefer SD in October because it is a bit warmer. But, it shouldn't be bad in December unless it is something unseasonable. And if it is, then it is. Oh well what are you gonna do. Cold is all in the mind right? That's what i always tell myself anyway.

Definitely make sure you have the right gear, especially boots wise. You may already be set, but if you're not here's a warning.

I'm trying to get all the info I can from IDNR about getting tags to hunt a family farm in Green County IL.
I think I'll be considered a non-resident because I'm only related by marriage if I understand their regs correctly, hoping I'm wrong and won't have to pay the full non-resident tag fee.
Not sure I could cough up $400 for a buck and doe tag.
They have 250 acres of some great property full of deer,
Here is the skull of a 10 point they found last year, not sure how it died.

They were both 6 point bucks and I killed them both. The problem is the acorn crop is huge and the deer don't have to move much to eat. They are not coming out to the crop fields with all those sweet white oak acorns to eat. The cut-overs where the oaks are around where I hunt are so thick that you can't hunt in them. I am going back Nov 5 for a couple weeks. The rut should be in full swing and the deer should be moving.

ALIENS HAVE ABDUCTED THE DEER - WE ARE NEXT
Same deal in Southern KY. Acorns are rotting on the ground with no sign at all. I think I'm gonna take a little .22 and rack up on the bumper crop of squirrel

I think I've got it all setup for the boot situation. I'll be in Gregory S. Dakota, Thursday-Sunday. I'll take some pics for thread.

Excellent part the state. Have fun. I love bird season. It has already been ruffed grouse, dove, sharptail and pheasant for me this season. You will have a great time. Upland hunting is by far my favorite along with spot and stalk. I just about can't stand sitting in any stand or blind for any length of time.
