definitely use the .22 to qualify if that is what you are comfortable with. You sure don't want to get used to the recoil of larger calibers under the pressure of that test. My girlfriend and I took our class earlier this year at guns and leather(highly recommended btw) and they recommended using their .22 pistols as neither of us had shot before. We both easily passed and then went out and got comfortable with 9mm and .45.

Ahh, Black Rifle Disease. I have that also. Not as sick with BRD as I am with HgD (Handgun Disease). I do want a 22lr like the GSG5 or Kel-Tec SU-22, and a 5.56 of some kind.

When I took mine about this time last year. We shot 18 times at 3 yds., and 18 times at 9 yds., and 14 times from 15 yds. that was it.

My class was 6 @ 3, 6 @ 7, 6 @ 15, and the remainder of the total 48 rounds at 3.
