News Regarding GoLSN and Gun Sales

In the past, the GoLSN web site has allowed the sale of firearms and related gear. GoLSN generates a large amount of it's operating income by using the Google AdSense advertising system. Google prohibits using AdSense on any site that deals with the sale of firearms, which is why we don't use it here to generate operating capital.

GoLSN should have known that doing so was against Google's Acceptable Use Policy. It's a fact very clearly spelled out in the text of the AUP. Frankly I am very surprised that GoLSN got away with it for as long as they did.

That fact aside, Google finally contacted GoLSN recently and told them to cease facilitating the sale of firearms through the GoLSN service or face termination from the Google AdSense program. The choice was apparently clear for GoLSN as they opted to stop providing ad-space for firearms and related gear, kow towing to Google's demands.

GoLSN's solution was to set up another web site for the sale of firearms and gear. If you do a search on Google, you can probably find it. For that matter you can probably find it by visiting GoLSN's parent site and looking for a link there.

That being said:

TGO has a policy against allowing our forums to be used to cross-promote other commercial enterprises. GoLSN's sites have always been setup to generate revenue for their company so they clearly operate as a commercial enterprise.

If they want to promote their service on TGO, they are welcome to buy advertising space here the same way that every other Authorized Vendor has.

That is the only way we will allow cross-promotion of their sites on TGO. Any other threads created to promote their service will be considered as intentional efforts to spam TGO and those threads will be deleted. Our moderators work hard to keep TGO clear of unsolicited advertising and will take whatever measures are necessary to continue providing that level of "spam free" service to our members.
