Sure....let's outlaw listening to the radio, talking to a passenger or just anything except two hands on the wheel and eyes on the road, guages or mirrors while driving.

.....or how about simply using exsisting laws and penalize people who violate them regardless of what (eating, talking, texting, sleeping) caused them to go slow and impede traffic, lane drift, tailgate etc....

    Here's what I remember -

To make a short summary, the statistics were pretty close but C & D did comparison on one younger guy, one older guy. They had red light mounted to windshield that when it came on, you needed to hit the brakes.

Younger guy did ok in drunk/text test but still had slower reaction time than he would if he did neither. He fared somewhat worse texting than drunk though.

Older guy fared much worse than the younger guy, he had 9 seconds after the light telling him to brake came on before he realized it and came to a stop while texting. Had slowest reaction time under influence also too.

Thanks TargetShooter84. I still think we cannot legislate common sense and as one poster wrote (I think it was Fallguy) how about they just enforce existing laws, rather than making up meaningless new ones.

Anything that distracts while driving is a danger and I think on that we all agree.
