For an example, if a bad guy with a gun is running away from you you cant shoot him. Because it would be homicide is what you are saying.
What if he is running toward a building full of people and you think he is going to take a few out with him. Would that still be homicide if you shot him in the back?

It really doesn’t matter what you think. Would a “reasonable person” (that means a jury) believe that you or someone else is in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? If so; it doesn’t matter where you shoot them.
But keep in mind everyone gets days to decide what you had to decide in seconds.

So he threw the gun and ran around the building where a the officers curved four bullets around a corner that hit center mass? Whether they hit front or back, curving bullets is a heck of a feat.
