Troy Mitchell died Thursday night. He had wanted to donate his organs if anything like this ever happened, his family acquiesced to his wishes.

He was killed for his wallet and cell phone while installing a lock on a customers car mid morning.

Give Jackson a couple more years...been heading the wrong way for many years and doesn't seem to be getting any better....

Fellas...I drove OTR for over 13 years. Been to nearly every major city in the USA many,many times. Been to Columbus OH hundreds of times. EVERY,SINGLE major city Ive ever been into,is an absolute danger zone. I cannot now recall one single city that Id call livable,or safe. Nashville,Memphis,and Knoxville are totally crimeridden and very dangerous. Our nations capital,D.C.,is an absolute ****hole. A very short pistol shot from the White House,symbol of freedom the world over,is some of the most dangerous places ON EARTH. Our cities are beyond repair,they are too far gone.Ive been in places in Philly,Boston,NASHVILLE,and New Jersey where Ive literally been in fear of my life,and told my companies I would not go back to the shipper/reciever there anymore,they could fire me if they want. Should I live to be 100,Ill NEVER set foot in several of these places again. Oh yeah,Jackson Tn? Wouldnt let a dog live there. For those who have not travelled much,and seen these cities in ways that I,and others have,there is no way I can tell you how awful they are. Ill never forget coming out of a distribution center in Philly one morning,after me and two other truckers SLEPT IN SHIFTS because we were scared to damn death we were gonna get jacked.As we left just at daybreak,it looked like I was in Beruit Lebanon. FILTH everywhere,decayed delapidated buildings,and burnt out cars everywhere. This,in the city where this nation was born. Sure they look good on a postcard...but that aint the real way theses cities are.

Untie the hands of local citizens and cops like they did with Homeland Security.

It’s a war in some of these cities. I’m all for handgun carry, but that won’t help much. You carry in some of these areas and the gang bangers will just biatch slap you and take your gun. By the time you are justified in pulling a gun; it’s over.

About 2 years ago our neighborhood started getting pretty bad. The poor police officers can only do so much, and were very helpful. However, it's MY neighborhood.

I started making rounds at night, and talking all kinds of s#%@ to people who were slanging weed on our street, or just shady people. In about the span of a year I had to draw my weapon twice.

Eventually those people started going somewhere else to sell weed. And I became friends with one of the officers that worked graveyard and he would go over there at 3am and wake them up to ask them questions about things I saw during the day. It was hilarious.

They ended up getting fed up and moved somewhere else. We haven't really had any problems since then, and the neighbors, especially the older folks, are very kind to me and my family because of it.

Don't let these people intimidate you. It's your neighborhood. Find like minded individuals and go out at night, let your neighbors know what's going on. In no time you'll get everybody fired up.

I grew up in Cinsitsnasti. 30 couple yrs. Moved to Tn cause I didn't want to raise my children there.

First off I don't know why anyone would like living in the city. Second I guess if the LEO's won't or can't do it then the people need to take matters into their own hands. I think the roots of liberalism are entrenched in every one of our cities. IT DOESN"T WORK.

City life has its own advantages. Walking to friends, eat, work, play, and drink. The diversity of food and entertainment available. I really miss that all livin in the sticks.

I guess if that's the way you grew up. I have always lived in the stix so don't know what it's like to miss the city. I know it's uncomfortable for me when I'm in the city. When we go out to eat we drive the distance and head home. Yes there are no streetlights, subways, or public transportation, but those costs all add up and burdens the taxpayers. I'll take the stix.
