But just think of all the positive things you have done. I agree it does make you feel bad but I try and focus on the positive side of it. I think we should have tougher laws for first offenders as well as repeat offenders.

This is some mind shattering injustice. My reaction would put me in prison for the rest of my life if that was my baby.

We don’t have a justice system; we have a legal system.
Fixing it could be done, but it’s a catch 22. Liberals coddle the criminals and conservatives want them in jail but tie the hands of cops every chance they get.

Our founding Fathers never intended the Constitution to be the shield for criminals that it is today. Until that changes; we won’t have justice.

If he is found guilty of vehicular homicide, I think the death penalty should be on the table.

Because he was intoxicated at the time, its a Class B Felony at best min 3 years max 10 years.

It would not surprise me one bit (knowing the CJS as I do) to see them drop everything else and go for a plea on the VH for the promise of a reduced sentence, 3 maybe 5 years.

This is Davidson County after all...

I am afraid they will drop it down to Vehicular Manslaughter. I agree he wont serve over 5 years.

Man charged with 9th DUI in Franklin

FRANKLIN — A Gallatin man has been charged with his ninth drunk driving offense.

Police said Timothy L. Morton, 49, is being held at the Williamson County jail on $35,000 bail. Morton was arrested Friday afternoon. He is charged with DUI (9th offense), driving while a habitual motor vehicle offender (3rd offense), driving on a revoked license (2nd offense), evading arrest, failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to maintain a lane of travel and violation of the implied consent law for refusing to submit to a blood/alcohol test.

Police received a call around noon on Friday from a motorist who reported a possible drunk driver near Franklin Road and Mack Hatcher Parkway. An officer spotted the vehicle leaving the Mapco at 240 Franklin Road.

The officer pulled the vehicle over on Main Street, near Second Avenue after observing erratic driving, and seeing an aluminum can thrown out. Police said Morton got out of his vehicle and began yelling at the officer, then got back into his vehicle and squealed his tires while pulling away.

Officers pulled alongside Morton several times while he was stopped in traffic, ordering him to pull over. He was finally boxed in at red light on Highway 96 and Sturbridge Drive and removed from his vehicle. Police found an open alcohol container in the vehicle.
