I can tell you from experience that when deployment orders come down there are a lot of things that happen. Some get sick and get out, some go AWOL etc. When we were deploying they also issued a stop loss so those ETSing or PCSing (getting out or transferring to another base) were stuck, nobody leaves during a stop loss except for Medical or court martial. This naturally pisses off some soldiers.
That was just for a first deployment. After coming home a lot of the soldiers came home to marital problems, wives have left or are cheating, some family members may have passed, all that added to the stress of trying to cope with what you saw and/or did over seas. Then to receive orders again once your life is starting to get patched up. It can be quite a stressful situation. Not saying that I excuse what this ****stick did or really think this has anything to do with his intentions, but as someone mentioned there are soldiers committing suicide before the first deployment. Let alone 3, 4, 5, 6 deployments later.

Mexico ain't that far away. He could have kept driving due south if he didn't like it that much.

I agree, someone mentioned it so I thought I would throw it out there.
Our Command Sergeant Major was a Muslim. He was a little short guy. I mean he had to get special MREs because of being Muslim. Kosher meals or what ever. I can say that there was question as to where his allegiance was with a lot of the soldiers before deploying. So he held a little meeting about it and spoke to us all. He said that while he doesn't necessarily like the idea of killing anyone let alone another Muslim, he is first an American Soldier, and if it comes to that he would. So it all falls back to where is allegiance was. And I don't think being a soldier came first with this guy.

One report I saw said it was a .357 and a FiveSeven. Even though you cant buy the factory AP there are plenty of companies churning out stuff that is just as deadly if you dont care to order online. Also FN does give you 3 magazines so if he didnt buy any extra he still had 60rds at his disposal.

Not sure if anyone else has seen this comment on the main FoxNews story, but I thought it was interesting since the base is basically a "gun free zone" "The 21-year-old Fort Worth native quickly grabbed the civilian worker who'd been helping with his paperwork and forced her under the desk. He lay low for several minutes, waiting for the shooter to run out of ammunition and wishing he, too, HAD A GUN."
Funny how people who have training with firearms like to have a firearm when crap happens... Matthew |

well........
If this dude was having to treat (ie listen) to all the soldiers coming in with all the associated problems, I would say that yes it's ALL part of the BIG problem with our military. You can only stretch the rank and file so thin before things start to snap. This should be a BIG wake up call to the Army..not that the rapid increase in suicides shouldn't have been a while ago....
You can thank the previous administration for fostering a "no care" attitude towards our Military. You can thank the current administrations parties general attitude towards guns for the fact that the he COULD continue to shoot with no one having the ability to stop the threat. ALOT of people are to blame....bottom line is us "proud" Americans are becoming an increasingly selfish bunch....we're headed down a slippery slope and the saddest part is that everyone has someone ELSE to blame including the President of our Country. Well all you "proud" conservatives should spend a little time reflecting on the what the previous President (and his PARTNER IN CRIME) did to this Country. The Pendulum continues to swing.....our only hope should be is that is swings for many more years. Time for all of us to start thinking of someone besides ourselves. We used to be a caring bunch....yes I think you can be caring AND strong....look at the GI's of WWII....TRULY the last GREAT generation of Americans....DUTY AND HONOR...I wonder if we'll ever return...

Apparently "Everything is Bush's fault" is still in the playbook.
