    Being stationed at Ft. Hood sucks, but it doesnt suck THAT much!

    Even after the up tick in security after 9/11 getting on base is pretty routine...and yes at the larger bases the Gate Security has been turned over to DOD Civilian Police and contract security firms...due mostly to military deployments overseas. I have a DOD "sticker" on my windshield...pull up to the guard...flash my RETIRED ID...and "drive on" have yet to be stopped and have the car searched...saying that...now I will be stopped the next 3-5 times I go to Ft. Campbell

    Back then there were several back entrances with NO gates or security. The other gates were active armed MP's, but all one needed was a DL to get on base.

    If I am not mistaken the lady who went before congress after her parents were killed in a multiple shooting, and she had left her weapon in her car?.....that was also in Killeen TX I do believe.

    That was in Washington state. That was pretty wierd too.

    I wonder if they capture the shooters if we'll hear the real story or because it's on a federal installation if we'll hear something different? There have been terrorists captured recently that targeted military bases. Just a thought. Pretty tragic any way you look at it.

    WOW.

    I got a good freind who is based there. He is in the sandbox right now, but his wife (soon to be ex-wife) lives on base. I am going to try to get a hold of her and see if she still lives there and if so, what the word is.
