  1. Enjoy it as is or modify it to death. Your choice. They are really fine 1911's. I have read that they were very popular with pistol smiths due to the supposedly better grade of steel. Chrome lined bore too. Shoulda bought a gross of them when they $200.
  2. I got my CDNN catalog yesterday and they are showing the SCAR 17s and 16s. They are both "Call for Price" though.
  3. I too am just starting to consider building. How cost effective is it to roll your own versus buying an entry level Del-Ton, Armalite, Bushmaster, S&W, etc.? Each of these and others can be had for around $800-850. Is there a significant savings or is more of an "I built this myself" sort of thing.

    Marlin 60, Any One?

Wow! That's fabulous you can do that. I hope I hold up that well.
  6. Back in 2006 I purchased an original all matching MP40 from an acquaintance. He had purchased it in 1976 from the Vet that brought it back from Vietnam. He told me up front that he paid the fellow $200 for it but he almost walked away because the $200 tax doubled the price of the gun. Of course he didn't feel too bad about that anymore when I handed him a check for $xx,000. Before May, 1986 machine guns were pretty cheap. For the most part nobody wanted them. Then when the Feds closed the door all that changed. Within a few years people started to realize the investment potential and the prices began to climb. They seem to have peaked about 3 years ago and since then, with the recession and all, they have flattened out, maybe even gone down a bit.

    Marlin 60, Any One?

That's absolutely ridiculous... in a good way! With a little work the EOtech would make a good carry handle.
  8. Also look at the plastic mag catch. Maybe the mags are dropping slightly.
  9. +1 on part of what you said. The Witness series is the best kept secret in firearms. A really good pistol. But I would allow $325 regular, $450 Match. Things have gone up you know.
  10. Since an AMD65 doesn't have a side rail, I would suggest an UltiMak for the AK.

    What are these?

Norinco made a copy of the Browning that was imported by Interarms for a while. Check and see if yours is Belgium or Japan (Miroku). Averages around $150 more for the Belgium ones on the used market. That said... don't sell it. They are such neat rifles.
  12. If you really want to adapt your Saiga to AR mags, look at this thread. The AK Files Forums - My Saiga .223 adapted to take AR mags. And this, MagnoliaStateArmory | Magnolia State Armory Btw, I went with Galil Orlites back when they were $15 each brand new. They are by far the easiest to make work. They were a bit wobbly but I never had any issues.
  13. It's quite an empowering feeling to be able to sit in your home and talk to someone in Europe or South America without any outside assistance, don't even need public electricity, just a car battery. Of course this last sun spot cycle has been the pits. Can't hardly talk across the street. That's part of the reason why I've recently decided to get out it. If any of you guys want to get started in HF I can set you up with the whole rig, antenna and everything for low $$ or a rifle or something. K1ERD
  14. I've got about 400-500 rounds through mine and it's never done that. You should give S&W customer service a call. 1-800-331-0852 (Inside USA) 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (Monday - Friday). They'll probably tell you to send it back.

    FN SCAR?

$2600, $3100, $7000!! I guess I won't be getting one of these. Not when I choke at the thought of paying $1k for an AK.
