That's been my thought all along. I want to compete with nobody for any resources available. I'm all for getting away from the major cities. People in the city who never thought to learn how to survive or hunt and fish will become common thieves and loot those of us who do know how. Many are used to handouts and when they get cut off they'll come looking.

I agree with the Eastern seaboard as being a no go except northern Maine and NH. There's a ton of good fish and lots of moose and deer. Wackin a moose would keep you going for awhile. If need be easy access for quick escape into Canada if things get real bad.

I have my doubts about Alaska. Aside from the sheer difficulty of everyday living and very few roads there are 4 major military bases along with a misile launch site. It's always been known as a strategic military location so would also make a target. I lived the better part of my adult life in AK and still have family living there, but would not make it my prime survival destination. Too cold!

To0 many large metropolitan areas in the North East to make any place there viable for survival. Canada could be an option except a large part of the Canadian population leaves in the east too. Western Canada would be better to go to. Unfortunately Canada isn't very friendly to our kind. They don't like firearms there.

Karl, I saw the Glenn Becks show about the implosion of the US currency, and I think it will truly happen, ESPECIALLY if this healthcare bill gets passed. God help us if it does. NO ONE IN WASHINGTON IS LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE. THE MAJORITY OF CITIZENS DO NOT WANT GOVERNMENT-BASED HEALTHCARE! All these reps want to do is pass a bill AT ANY COST! It's totally crazy!

If the worst nationwide rapid financial meltdown happened, ala the scenario in the book Patriots, at least 80% of the population would not even attempt to "flee" until flight was nigh impossible except on foot.

They (we) would live, actually mostly die, in place.

I agree with that mostly OS. But I think a lot of the bad customers would try to get out along with a lot of the smart ones. The dumb ones that drink the party koolaid would be the ones that end up dieing in place. Smart and bad could actually be a bad combo. Smart and bad could mean Very Evil. It would not be a fun place to live in.

I guess then we need to focus on being in the 20% that's smart enough to figure it out before the SHTF. Terrible to say but your senario could happen. They are printing way too much money and very soon we'll be into a hyperinflation state. The feds will have no way to recoup as spending will come to a standstill. I think we here on this forum are pretty well informed.

Legally it doesn’t matter who owns the land if here is not way to enforce ownership.
Living off the land and being in the great outdoors sounds real good…. Until the owner of the property puts bullet through your head and calls it a day.

Walking around carrying a gun doesn’t necessarily make you safe; it may just make you a high value target.

Living off the land in the great outdoors sounds GREAT from the comfort of your heated/air conditioned living room...until you have to do it for a long time.

I still plan on taking a Wally World!

For anyone planning on living off the land...I'll gladly trade some popcornballs for deer jerky!
