"Official" East Tn TGO Fall "Meet & Shoot"

Recommended Posts

Here's what i'm thinking....Get together somewhere(wherever is convenient for most) , fire off some rounds, then plan either a cook-out of sorts, or if nothing else head to the nearest eatery and chow down. Maybe meet some new faces, and catch up with the "usuals". Sometime before we got icicles hanging from our barrels.... What do you guys think?

Edited Oct 20th: For the late readers, This thing is happening! Saturday, October 30th!

Edited Oct 22nd: The plan is for everyone to meet at the old IGA in Andersonville(link to mapquest directions below) at 10AM, then everyone will convoy to BigJ45's place. Here is the link to the mapquest location, you can then simply enter in your own address beside "Get Directions" and it should lead you there.

Also, We are asking everyone to bring basically what they want to eat & drink....this way not one person is left having to make sure to bring enough for everyone, and titan14 is being kind enough to provide a smoker for the preparation of the meats. See his posts (quoted below) regarding what you need to let him know about what kind of meat you will be bringing.

I'd be glad to bring the smoker, I just need some info on what everyone wants.

If we only do hot dogs and hamburgers, I can definitely do that VERY easily.

If we do ribs, I can do that pretty easy also. Ribs take about 5 hours.

We (I) won't have time to do anything bigger than that, like pork shoulders...they take approximately 12 hours give or take 2 hours.

With hot dogs and hamburgers, everyone can bring their own and I can throw them on the smoker when they get there. All beef dogs are WAY better on the smoker.

With ribs...again, everyone can bring their own, but...I would need at least 5 hours to get them done. And I'll need to bring some super secret ingredients and a few extra tools. Don't get me wrong...I love to do ribs, but, that is a little more expense for me. I'll need to know a DEFINITE head count for the "rib" people before I leave the house.

And like Bubba has said...if everyone can bring something pertinent...I'll do the smokin'!!!

I only need about 2 hours for the dogs. Hamburgers, well, everyone knows how long they take. So, if we eat at noon, I need to be set up and smoking by 10.

I'll do the hamburgers on the grill.

But, as i said earlier, if anyone wants a bigger piece of meat smoked, i need to know that ASAP, and get the details on that.

Ribs=5 hours

Butts, shoulders=atleast 5 hours on the smoke...you can finish it in your oven.

If anyone wants ribs, butts, shoulders, brisket...I need to know early. I'll need to bring a few extra things and I'll need to get there a little early.

Just Say When And where Im deffinately down with that. However, I will be sorely dissapointed if Jamie is not the Spitting image of Val Kilmer as Dock in "Tombstone" as that is the image i firmly associate with him now.;) My Vote is Norris. Several local restaurants less than 4 miles from the range but I'll drive all day if necessary to meet some of this crowd.:)

Can you do guest passes to Norris? I would like to go but I don't have a membership.

Not really supposed to bring guests. It's only $20 for the day though.

Might as well pay $20 more and get to go through next June.

Plus, if found there without a valid pass there is a hefty fine.

Does anyone has some private land for this shootenanny or is Norris the current favorite? It has been a while since the ET crew got together.

I personally would prefer private land for a shoot...but...that's only MY preference. And, if everyone wants to kick in some money for food, I'll bring my smoker.

I agree if anyone had any private land, that would be best since not everyone has a pass/key to Norris. Plus we could do our own thing, someone bring a grill, etc, etc.

Those smoked dogs are enough to make it worth it.

Ditto! :drama:

Dates.....What kind of date range are we thinking? I'm assuming either a Saturday or Sunday would work best for the majority? Let me know and i'll post a new poll thread.

Sound great .

I'd like to meet the other shooters from this neck to the woods.

Sat. or Sunday (after church) is fine with me. Fridays work for me as well because of 4-10 work schedule in O.R.

Norris sounds OK. I haven't been there yet. I'm open to other places as well.

Vols are home at Neyland thru the rest of Sept., 10/2 & 10/9 are away games .

Looks like 10/16 is a bye week gonna need it cause we get Bama @ home this year on 10/23 then 10/30 & 11/6 are away dates again.

I just got a couple of kegs. :P Too but they were empty B) but should still make good targets. ;) Count me in depending on time and location.

Kegs Are splendid targets. I had a couple as well sitting around for couple of years. Finally took them up to norris and filled em full of holes. There is something very satisfying about the "ping" it makes as your projectile ripps through the metal like.......well it just RIPS!! Mike .357 drilled the valve (on top) out from 100 yards with his Nagant. Gotta get one while there still cheap.

P.S. Private Land would be the Ultimate solution. I got a close friend whose family has the perfect spot in Deep South Knoxville. However, they keep Horses so I wont even bother to ask.:D
