Avenged 7 Fold, Three days Grace, & Bullet for my Valentine!!!!

I might see you there!!!!

BTW, far as I know, it is posted. I haven't carried there, don't plan too either. Security is pretty dang tight there as far dealing with idiots. I carry a couple of blades and a small thing of pepper spray in each pocket. My wallet is on a chain, [be sure it's a short chain or they will make you take it off!] and I put my keys on the chain clip. In a pinch, you can take out your wallet and commence to whoopin' some heads. There's no guarantee's in life, but stay in the crowd and park close as you can. Even if you have to pay more than $10 normal to get a good, well lit parking spot. Follow the sheep, keep head down and eyes open, and move quickly to the car.

Have fun DcPohl52!!!!!!

When I went to see Ozzy in concert in Feb. security didn't seem all that tight IMO. Even though, I left my firearm at home that night, I probably could have carried past security. I didn't wear anything that might suggest that I needed to be searched. So I suppose attire while attending event should be kept without looking like a slob.

Yeow!!! Ears ringing, but heck of a good time.

Street is right, look like a thug, the cops'll pat you down. Act respectable, you're good to go. I won't carry no matter what the technical rules are. It's not worth some cop taking my weapon and cheating me out of the concert. If I can't be separated from my pistol, then I should stay out of concerts. That's the way I see that.

Tough stuntman, that's for sure

I used to work security there a few years ago and on occasion we would use metal detector wands. They were crap. I haven't been there in a couple of years but on their website somewhere it says that weapons are not allowed. If they catch you they will just escort you out if you are already in or prevent your entry if they catch you at the door.

I know this is after the fact since I'm late to the party but it may be useful to others for future events.

Lets us know what you encountered.

If it's not posted, why would a police officer take your weapon? That would be a violation of state law, unless you're being arrested police officers are required to return a HCP holders weapon when they are released.

Worse they could do, turn you away.

No the worse they can do is turn you away and invalidate your ticket by banning you access. There were over a dozen dressed police officers at the entrance I used. Really, the "LAW" is moot. You can be a Dream Team Johnny Cochran, super lawyer and when the man stands in front of you and says "so & so" You can do nothing but fuss about it later.

I agree that technically if it's not posted per TN law, you should be able to carry, but they are NOT going to let you, they don't care about the exact word of the law and there's nothing anyone can do about it except maybe sue them and lose which would only have them put the proper sign out there. No judge is going to side with the second amendment over the thought of a building full of teen angst driven mosh pit nutters and beer guzzling party animals. It's a metal concert after all. They don't want guns in there. I always get reserved seats, and there's a reason I don't do general admission, it's the same reason they don't want a person carrying in there; Loud heavy music brings out the crazy in people.:)

The more I think about it, the more there is to this whole thing.

First, people shouldn't need EVERYTHING to be "properly posted" Half reason the gooberment has umpteen million laws now is because no one has the common sense to make a good judgement call anymore. People cry for freedom and liberty and less government involvement yet they have to have someone hold their hand for day to day decisions. That's the pitiable people of the country.

Second, if you really use your noggin you'd see that that a concert is the LAST place you want a gun. I will say I would have liked mine for the walk back to the car, but as I have said before, if I get that scared I can keep my butt at home. A concert is like a supermax prison. YOU DO NOT WANT A GUN there during an altercation. Say someone attacked you and "legally and justifiably" defended yourself. Well, Law don't go there, MOB rules there. An AR and a Beta C wouldn't be enough. The chances of getting overrun by the mob is very high. Then, it's a gruesome demise for you. No thanks. Get into a fight and use anything but a gun, and the crowd will probably only cheer it on. Crowds DO NOT like guns.

Think people, think.:)

Doesn't matter wether we like it, what is, is what is.

There are lots of reasons to carry at a concert... most importantly to and from said concert in a downtown area that does see a good bit of crime... Which is why it's not against the law to carry in large public gatherings.

I have no clue what concert you went to... but it sure doesn't sound like somewhere I'd want to be anyhow...

And nobody was suggesting they can't deny you access, that is their right as the property owner, I was just pointing out they can't take your weapon if you were caught carrying in an unposted area, you can't be charged and your weapon can't be confiscated by police officers, they must return it when they release you from the scene.

Personally, I don't go anywhere I can't carry, unless I have no other choice - ie, state office buildings, courthouse, etc. If it's so dangerous that they feel the need to post, I figure it's probably better I avoid the business...

You're probably right.

And I'm just saying, we can go on and on about what a cop is supposed to do, but when he takes it and starts reading rights, what are you going to ? I used to get my blood pressure up really high arguing over this, but I've come to grips now. They can take from you, they can and they will. What's right and what's wrong means squat. Might makes right. You can tell them what they can and can't do all day long, but the instant they do something you disagree with and you do anything other than cooperate, you lose. It's not a bow down and admit defeat attitude; It's a rethink how you go about things attitude.By Law he can't throw you a beating either, but push one and see.

All this is rubbish anyway. Posted or not, do not carry to large concert events in the Bridgestone Arena. It's just not worth the hassles you'll get.

I've carried at concerts, but I keep it well concealed. I also don't call the place and ask "Hey do you allow guns?". Of course the property is going to say "NO WAY we don't let people carry guns on our property!". If you have a license, I don't see why legally you can't carry as long as other laws are followed. I have been by that arena a year ago and haven't seen how it would be illegal to carry. It isn't hard to hide a gun if you use the right gun and holster. Now just covering up one in the waistband with a T shirt won't work for a concert. Pocket carry, ankle carry, these are options. I don't go to concerts where they use metal detectors. Not my kind of crowd.

Yeah Caster it was a awesome show I did not carry just left it in the car to be on the safe side even though i never got searched or anything Im sure I could have carried but not worth the trouble while trying to have a good time.

The area around the arena has some rough looking characters out front. I'm taking the wife and kids to Disney on Ice this Sat. Mickey doesn't scare me but I hear Goofy has had a crack habit in the past. I'd love to carry at least the BodyGuard.

Any updates to this thread?

Thanks im advance.

I have been there a couple of different times for different events. I personally have never been searched, wanded or anything else, but I have seen others that were. As discussed in another thread, even if not posted, anybody in control of a property can tell you to leave for being armed.

So while you may not be violating the law by carry there...it is more or less a crap shoot as to whether you may end up not being allowed in (probably even if you offered to disarm) and loose the money on your ticket and possibly more depending on others interpretation of law/policy.

Just conceal well and don't worry about it. I went on the website not too long ago before a concert and saw the "no weapons" on there, so I figure it would be posted and I didn't carry. Got to the door however and it is not posted. Most of the concerts I've gone to they have only looked in purses and backpacks. I reckon they only bust out the metal detectors for the mosh pit type shows.

I would say that if you conceal well you shouldnt have a problem. I went to the circus last year before I got my permit & they werent doing patdowns or wanding or anything. They were looking in women's purses, but they let every man I saw just waltz on in. If I would have had my permit I could have carried my gun in in my IWB holster no problem.

There's always a chance though that the day you go will just happen to be chosen to get searched. If that happens, as mentioned above, you could get screwed by being barred from entering & losing your ticket.

To me this is no different than carrying in a restaurant or a church. I'm not carrying because I'm afraid of what will happen inside. I carry to protect myself coming and going.

That said.... I am going to see Rush on May 1. I work downtown and have covered, secure parking, so I will leave my gun in the car. Since I am going with two other people, I'm not too worried about the walk to the arena or the walk back.

Could be the reason why they searched the women'spurses and packs was they were looking for liquor bottles or other less concealable items. I know when i went to a concert this summer, the security overlooked my maxpedition ( hidden pocket)and only cared that I was carrying a bottle of water. Made me chuck the water( funny thing is they were giving away water once in the gate. This incident was in Atlanta, at an outdoor concert though. But i wouldn't put it past the security folk at the Nashville arena.

Same reason why the movie theaters don't want you bringing in outside food/drink... Its all about the $$$$
