I think this has been covered but want to be certain. I am close to getting my Rat 3 and I want the clip point blade. I think it is legal. Anyone know better?

I am trying to get over some flu-like funk and my head still hurts.

Thanks,guys.

Are you asking about the legality of the length of the blade or the fact that it is a clip point?

As already said on this thread the clip point is the most popular type of blade in the world

4" in the max legal to carry. You can own any length you want, you just can't carry it if it's over 4". Though I believe there is an exception incidental to hunting, etc.

Four inches is what Tn considers a weapon, and therefore what I'm assuming you can carry. I carry a Ka-Bar when I'm hunting/camping and have never run into a problem (knock on wood.)

"(a) It is a defense to the application of § 39-17-1307 (unlawful carrying/possession of weapon) if the possession or carrying was:

...

(4) Incident to lawful hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, sport shooting or other lawful activity;"

If you can convince a cop you are lawfully doing any of those on Gay Street, I guess you could carry it there. :)

Ain't that always the case? The places you need a machette most are the places you can't have one.
