Weed, fights and guns: Trayvon Martin’s text messages released

Recommended Posts

Probably not, especially since they look at us as lowly plebs anyhow.

Not to drift off topic (as if that would matter at this point) but there were interesting numbers on The Drudge today which listed viewership for the various shows on cable news.  Fox News swept the ratings in the first four or five top spots, with The O'Reily Factor topping the list with nearly 3 times the viewers as it's closest liberal competition, Pierce Morgan.  It tells me something about where America's heads are at.

We might be bombarded by liberal media over the airwaves and print, but folks still flock in greater numbers to get their information from a non-liberal news source (one that is also demonized by all those other outlets).  I think that most intelligent Americans can see this for what it is right now, desipte the tireless efforts of the rabid left.  It tells me no matter how hard they push, they won't win the hearts and minds of America's soul.  Let them push, and let us remain silent.  It will hasten them stepping on their crank more and being forced out the exit.... IMO.

Did you total all the lib sources against all the conservative sources? Fox always has big numbers, but has a lot more competitors on the tard side. I haven't seen the numbers. I know the conservative numbers would be huge if they would back off the social issues and stick with what government is really supposed to be doing.

Yep, and their biggest draw, O'Reilly, combines wrong-headed RINO-Liberal economics with the catholic version of bible-thumping social conservatism plus wrong-headed opinions on gun control and about every other freedom-oriented issue. About the only freedom oriented issue he gets right, is complaining his taxes are too high. But he's such an arrogant prick it makes me want em to double his taxes just for the heck of it. :)

Or maybe his ratings are so high because people like to watch and despise, like mosquitos drawn to a bug-zapper.

I can't stand O'Reilly.  About the only time I can watch his show is if he has Napolitano or Stossel on as a guest.  They will school him on some topic, and then he always so condescendingly responds, "Let me tell you why you are wrong."  What a jerk.

I can't find the thread now, but the guy that called me KKK and said I disgusted him....I'm not KKK....I'm actually AARP. However I do have a confederate flag tattoo with a wild boar on my left arm. As far as ignoring me? Please do. One less E-card I need to mail out before the holidays. You probably didn't contribute much in the way of intelligent conversation to the thread anyways.

Here I'll fix it for ya...

Yeah, I get the type of person O'Reily is. The last time I watched his show Dubya didn't even know where Iraq was on a map. But the ratings still imply that there is a huge chunk of folks out there that aren't consuming the liberal garbage. That is a good thing, even if O'Reily is a pinhead.

In regard to the totality of ratings, I don't believe that there are too many liberal news shows that compete with one another. I wouldn't even classify Anderson Cooper's show as being libtarded to the extreme. I watched it once and it was like watching a gay Geraldo. Not much content and I doubt the audience is made up of people looking to be reaffirmed in belief that conservatives are all racist gun nuts. The real liberal meat and potatoes (or tofu and soy) are shows like Pierce Morgan and Rachel Maddow, and if you add up their ratings they still don't meet O'Reily, and I'm certain the libtards who watch one probably watch the other.

Just saying, I think the low viewership is a sign, regardless of O'Reily's standing as a pinhead. Hell, he says a lotta stuff that I agree with, but he's just so smug that I can't tolerate it.

Charis, your post is full of win, but let mr negativity have at it for a minute! (just joking)

If a bunch more GZ supporters were standing outside the courtroom, what exactly would it accomplish? Kinda like a very boring sports event, where lots of fans are standing around for days on end waiting for a play to be completed? Rooting for their side? People were wondering at the pointlessness of TM supporters standing around outside when their mob should NOT have any effect on the proceedings inside the courtroom. So how is it somehow less pointless to stack on more GZ supporters standing out there when ideally they wouldn't have any effect on the proceedings either?

Or maybe the purpose of a bunch of GZ supporters standing out in florida heat, is to attract the attention of some simpering politician who might be induced to make some useless public proclamation about GZ's right to something or the other? Maybe if enough people are standing out in the sun, a politician might even send out a fund-raising letter with GZ's name, hoping to get more money than usual from the easily-agitated and easily-manipulated sheep? Jump on the bandwagon son, while there's money to be made. We've about tapped em out on sending us money for doing absolutely nothing about immigration or abortion or whatever. Maybe we can fool em on some other issue and get a few more bucks out of em.

Some of the folks at this forum and others send significant money to the George Zimmerman Defense Fund; I will tell you that I think the Defense Teams' performance in the trial was worth every bit of the funds expended and made for an extremely pop-corn worthy production. How could the Offense put on a decent Soviet Show Trial without a passably effective Defense?

An under-funded George Zimmerman Defense David fought against a bloated, corrupt Offense Goliath, and the offensive Goliath got a rock to the forehead. It's enough to make you read and believe in The Bible once again.

Helping make that happen is enough of a quiet riot for honorable people.

There is a quote making the rounds on the internet that's appropriate here:

"The Truth Is Like A Lion. You Do Not Have To Defend It. Let It Loose. It Will Defend Itself." -- St Augustine.

Thanks Dan

I don't have a problem with that, tis a free country (kinda sorta anyway).

I liked Charis' original post a great deal and perhaps I misunderstood the last two paragraphs saying "wished had got more involved" in the case. Was just curious what would have made much difference in the way of demonstrations or whatever. Maybe it would make a lot of difference, but it seemed kinda pointless to me to have that herd of liberals mooing outside the courtroom, and would have seemed equally pointless to increase the size of the herd of conservatives mooing on the courthouse lawn. But maybe I misunderstood or "just don't get it". :)

I was thinking rather a little sooner than the trial itself, to the year before it when the liberal news, socialist government, and racist NAACP were doing all they could to force this case in the first place. Very little was said or done during that time, and THAT is when the real damage was done.

The challenge to law abiding citizens protecting their neighborhood, for caring about someone or something outside ourselves, was made then.

The narrative that a white man with a gun can never be trusted was started then, remember that it took them rather awhile to figure out that GZ is a Hispanic Jew, so they should take away the right to guns because white people will follow the laws.

The idea that we have "white Hispanic" but not a "white African" or "white Indian" or "white Asian" when they finally figured out their screw up.

And once again, the idea that only whites can be racists while the blacks shoveling fuel into the engine of this railroading spewed hate and death threats because this man was not black.

I still can't figure out that there are "sides" here, especially since no one will ever know exactly how this confrontation started or who started it. Makes it difficult to root for one side or the other. The only "side" that should be rooted for was a fair trial. Zimmerman got it, and he was found not guilty. Regardless of my opinion on Zimmerman, the maximum amount of justice that could be served has been served and he is a free man.

As I don't understand the Trayvon protesters, as for all they know he was a thug who attacked Zimmerman, I would be puzzled by Zimmerman protesters as for all they knew he accosted the kid and started the whole thing. I just don't get it. A this point the only valid protesting would be against Holder if he tries to come after Zimmerman, or Corey's corruption regarding the suppression of evidence and illegal firing of the IT specialist.

For me it is not about sides, but more about the issues, and the abuse of our legal system.

I get that the black community is upset about the death of one of their own, and I honestly have no worries about that at all, it is good and cleansing for people to grieve for their own. But I do have a serious concern that an organization with no facts or information whipped up a story to fit their hate filled needs, and brutalized not only GZ, but also TM. There was no need for any of us to know anything about TM, his past wrongdoings, or his very dysfunctional family life. There just wasn't any good reason for this UNTIL the race baiters showed up with their lie of an evil white man hunting down a black "child".

I also get that some of our country is worried about guns and violence, I do. I too have concerns that are made even worse by my own intense fear of guns, and I think there must be some way to try and limit the availability of guns to criminals, I just also think that it has to be done without infringing the rights of law abiding Americans and that my fear should not be the basis of law. There never should have been a time where we were questioning GZ's having the gun on him, and those that want to trample on the constitution grabbed up this case as proof that even legal gun owners can't be trusted and there must be more laws stealing rights from those that break no laws.

There are just too many people using this incident, as tragic as it was all the way around, to further their own agenda without reguard to justice or law. That is what creates the sides, and that is why I ask what I ask. There were so many places where someone could have stepped up and been the opposition and brought out the truth rather than the narrative of those that used this boy and his death and GZ in order to spin a tale that has nothing to do with truth. I think that is something to stand against, which I guess does amount to taking a side.

But then I also have to ask, if we are not willing to stand for what we believe in, are we not still choosing a side? And worse, are we not choosing the side that seems bent on destroying the very thing we profess to believe in?
