TN ranked 43rd among states as least likely to survive zombie attack.

Clearly, the authors of this survey did not take into account the "redneck factor." When they put a big red "Zombieland" blanket over the entire southeastern portion of the USA map, it tells me that they know absolutely nothing about southern culture or mindset, and that they've never been hunting on the opening day of dove season in Alabama (shoot anything that moves-- or not moving).

I agree that tn will fare quite poorly. We are fairly densely populated. Have a terrible physical fitness situation. Very fast food dependent. And have a surging yankee population. Sure 85% of this forum will make it, but we are a small section of the population.

Up north you have a better chance due to longer periods of time below freezing temperature. Whether they are the undead or 28 Days Later zombies, they can't function in below freezing weather. The only way to stay alive in the zombie apocalypse is to use nature to your advantage. In the event of an infection there may be several hundred million zombies in N. America. You don't have enough rounds to kill a horde like that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You don't have to kill all of them. You just need to get the pile high enough that they can't climb over it. Pretty obvious you ain't ever fought zombies before. :)

But yeah, for warmer climates the idea would be to utilize barriers and method of destroying them on the barrier without degrading the barrier itself. Problem would be how fast you can kill a horde of zombies. I'd be Leary about exhausting my ammo supply on the front end. I'd me more inclined to use the trench method of having a trench or natural low barrier, then using fire to burn them. Even if the fire doesn't absolutely destroy every one of them, it will likely incapacitate them by destroying functioning flesh. Point is, if your plan is to use your firearms as a primary zombie killing tool you'll run out quick. Plus, zombies can climb over mountains of dead brethren. Haven't you read Max Brooks? The way they described their stand in the desert and the height of the zombie hill should be an argument against trying to shoot your way through them... Unless you have a few hundred of your closest friends with you and the site you're defending is an ammo storage facility. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The scoring is not well thought out.

Its TN.  I can have all kinds of real guns.  Why in the bleep would I spend a buttload of money of FAKE TOY guns like paintball or airsoft when I have the real thing?  We are penalized for not having toy guns.

They should score it once for owning any sort of training weapon platform, and a second column for having a functional weapon and ammo capable of actually stopping said zombies.   That paintball gun wont stop a determined poodle, let alone a zombie.

If I had to score it, I would just have

- prepper stores (food, meds, survival stuff, 1 month supply or better)

- bug out  (ability to go rual, far from major cities and infestations)

- firepower (actual weapons and ammo)

- training (as said)

- environment (grow / find edible plants/food?  extreme conditions like alaska?  Island, trapped like hawaii? )

- military presence (big firepower)

and other such things.

Alaska wins with its size and low citizen count. Biggest thing you have to worry about up there is the fire running low.

Or Zombie Bears? THAT could be bad...
