Gallatin area?

Recommended Posts

I will be starting a new job in gallatin next month. I currently live in clarksville and will be looking to move closer within a few months. I have been looking for 2 to 10 acres in the gallatin and castalian springs area but really don't know anything about the area.

Are there any places that you would recommend looking at withing 20 minutes of gallatin? Any places to generally stay away from? Any place to look so that I'm in better schools for my children? Any schools to avoid?

Any general info you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee[/quote] Bethpage is great value- not likely to increase so dont buy the most expensive home in the area!

Westmoreland/Bethpage all good.  One day 840 might track a little south of there for even quicker access but I commute nightly to Smyrna with no difficulties.  Shop for food in Ky for tax savings. Excellent schools with a little less big city influences.  Lets put it this way, you better like country and rednecks!

Castallian Springs or Bethpage would be great. Sorry Rightwinger, but I'd rather be in hell with a broke back than Westmoreland or Portland. Hartsville will afford you with access tot he river, as well as a lot of home for the dollar, but man, it's a weird place.

I've tried to visit Lafayette but they think I'm a city slicker.  That and when I politely smile they see all my teeth.  :pleased:

 I had that one coming!

Not sure about real estate prices there, but the Cottontown area would be a good place to look as well in my opinion.

Bethpage is good area. Westmoreland (least when i was growing up in Gallatin) was known for drugs. Lebanon and Mount Juliet are nice but you may have a hard time finding several acres of land. Watertown may be an option, plenty of land but it's a bit of a haul.  Gladeville area has a small town feel but is close to the interstate. Hendersonville is pretty dense but a nice area. I wouldn't suggest anything between it and Nashville though.

Basically I would stay out of Davidson County. Wilson, Sumner are pretty good though.

I've looked at a few places in Westmoreland but my map is saying it's too far of a drive at 45 minutes. That may have been the north side though. My new career will be at hoaganaes if that matters for location.

I'm in Westmoreland and Hoeganes is 20 minutes from here.  If you get far enough out, as in small roads, to make it 45 minutes.  IT"S WORTH IT !

I'm just in the city limits but I can hear gun fire from here on occasion from those lucky enough to live in the county.

As far as the drug statement.  It's everywhere but the only folks you see hanging around the parking lots here are the kids.  Mine is one of them.  Their favorite things to do now are talk on CB radios and look at girls.  I love living in this little town.

2-10 in Cottontown is going to be expensive. If I were him, I'd look somewhere towards Bethpage or Castalian Springs.

Yes, Hartsville is strange (no offense). If you were not born there, buying property there is an interesting experience.

Rightwinger is correct. 20 minutes tops. I live just west of Lafayette, and con be at Hoganaese in about 30 minutes. (I drive through Westmoreland to get to Gallatin.) Be careful there! There have been several incidents resulting in injuries or deaths recently at that plant.

I live 2 miles from Hoeganes.

Wanna buy a $300,000 fixer upper? 5500 sq ft, 3 1/2 acres of 1800's - 1920's charm. Carriage house, slave house, smoke house... I just ran out of money, and can't do it anymore at my age. High ceilings, huge rooms... just spent 30K on exterior. Looks gorgeous.
