Range safety

Recommended Posts

FWIW
Not to rehash a problematic visit someone had at gun city I wanted to post this as every range has their rules and quirks for a variety if reasons. Gun city has these signs posted where shooters can't ignore them, and re iterates things to be done to keep the range safe as other ranges do as well.
I posted the release that has the rules in black and white simple to read format. Shooters are required to sign off on these rules. Number 9 says if a shooter observes a blatant violation they will report it to an employee immediately. ( this is for safety and to reduce fights amongst shooters over compliance).
I went so far as to ask about the Venetian trap used and was told the design was done by an aerospace engineer back in the day where the trap would catch everything thrown at it. It's a proven design that was approved by the NRA at one time for sanctioned ranges.
Bad ricochets can occur anytime anywhere especially when the targets are not placed within 3 feet of the backstop. The worst offense is when someone shoots downward to the floor when the target is a few feet out causing a ricochet. Gun city is also one of the few ranges that has steel partitions dividing separate shooters where some have wood or literally nothing.

It's not the fanciest or most tacticool place in town but it's been around for a long time with no injuries according to the mgr. have fun and be safe!
