"Nober, who originally hails from New York city, said changing the firearms culture in this country is an incredibly important issue.
She described the current open-carry situation as “the Wild West.”

“I’ve seen too much violence,” Nober said. “It’s hard when people are shooting in the streets ... people are carrying (guns) on their hip.”

Hails from NYC, that explains a lot. I wonder where she saw "too much violence?"

I'm betting NYC.

I guess TN is one of the next "conservative" states on the statist radar...isn't that the play book, move enough people from liberal states in to change the culture?

Or from another country. The Middle and South West is becoming blue at alarming rate, and of course the far west already is. Once Texas turns, that's it for the presidency, no more Republicans, and likely Senators and most Reps from there too.

Meh, the pendulum will start swinging back once it has swung too far. The Dems seemed destined to run the White House for the foreseeable future by buying off their voting base with promises of swag, but eventually there won't be enough swag to hand out or their voting base will want more.

I'm sure the tidal wave of unemployed and impoverished Irish, Italians and Germans who came to this country 100 years ago were voting socialist. Now they're the backbone of the working middle class. I'm continually surprised by the Dems ruling the Hispanic voting base when all the people I know of Mexican/Cuban/Dominican/puerto rican descent are rabidly right wing. Maybe I just haven't spent enough time in El Paso?

Their website doesn't have a forum or a link to contact them. They did list some events though, just said the dads were gonna have BBQs all over the country to spread their (lie) of a message.
I think showing up to tell the truth would be great!

I think it's amusing that there is a local pro gun group that routinely has meetings of 100+ members and the Daily Times will not give them any coverage.  Yet DMA has 12 fat aces show up for a cook out requiring 1 and a half packs of hotdogs and it warrants a story.  The Daily Times has always sucked and been horrible at reporting anything, and likely always will.

"Gun sense" is a relative term...."clips" is not.  Do your homework, mommies.

Anyone who says "clips" around me I always tell them there are no "clips" available that hold more than 10 rounds of ammo. SKS clips hold 10, Mosin Nagant clips hold only 5, even M1 Garand clips hold only 8. Now I believe there was some crappy Japaneese WW2 machine gun that used "clips" that held 30 rounds each but I doubt you can find them easily.

Best quotes below: ...what a bunch of sissies!!! I wonder if they known that 10% of TN has a carry permit! “Why should we have to go through this pain just because someone’s got a right to carry a gun around,” Twiggs said. “It’s traumatic for the whole culture.” Oh the pain! Culture of violence Eileen Nober, a Lenoir City resident and vice-chair of the Loudon County Democratic Party, was one of the dozen or so who attended Saturday’s cookout. Nober, who originally hails from New York city, said changing the firearms culture in this country is an incredibly important issue. A dem operative in the mix - what a surprise I wont hold my breath waiting for them to protest against their local cable or TV providers for flooding their homes with images of gun violence
