Colt AR15-A4

Ever since last December when Colt announced it was going to release a 20" rifle like the old A2, a current copy the Marines A4 rifle, I have been enticed, and quietly the kid in me was beginning to build in a want of this rifle.  Yes, there are other 20" makes and models, but I am very partial for the pony and I ride the pony most of the time when I can!  And though I like the carbines, I like the rifles better!  I already have a A2 green label and a few carbines, my A2 rifle is my favorite, but my only complaint it has a fixed handle.

I have found a dealer in the local area that has one in stock, but his price is well North of internet prices of ~$1200.  The problem of the internet places like Buds, and others, they have been sold out since March.   This rifle seems to sell out fast on the internet.

Today I came home from lunch, and to my surprise, I had a email from Buds, they had received a shipment.  Sweeeeet!  Though what makes this a super deal, the price has dropped from $1200 to $856 delivered!  Wow, I rushed to the phone, and placed it in layaway!  First time trying their Layaway!  BTW no sales tax!   I'm stoked!  However, I have to break the news to the wife, I guess I need to sell some more items on ebay!   I will give a range report in about 60-90 days along with pictures.

If those are police trade-ins, what on earth did the cops take in trade?

My guess they took them in trade for other equipment, the PD bought those transferables prior to 86 for probably $600-700 ea + stamps (not sure if the PD pays for stamps like us), lets just say those 10 guns probably got them $200K+/- worth of new post sample MG's and a whole bunch of gear/ammo..

Cyldes will flip those guns and probably make a easy $100k...

Already sold out, sure glad I got in.  Read on another forum, that someone talked to the sales person, and they said they were selling about 10 an hour.

id rather build my own but that's just me .....

To each his own!  For the reason I want this rifle, it does not meet build your own criteria.  If I wanted a shooter and nothing more than a shooter, than I would agree with you.  I collect about as much as I like to shoot.  This is not my first AR, nor my 2nd,  nor my 3rd, and not my last AR, it just meets my collectible criteria and one other reason, to pass on as a legacy gun to one of sons.

Thanks for posting, but I too posted here on Aug. 10th.  I thought long and hard about the Hbar, but I decided to go with the new A4.

I feel like a kid with a new toy.  Its refreshing to see and to hold a rifle over a carbine, even though I have a A2, this is sweet!

First, last week I received this notice from Buds:

Today, received the UPS notice my item had been delivered, and tonight I am taking pictures of this:

Runco, enjoy your new toy. I have one I bought 10+ yrs ago. It's at home. Partial to Colt in ARs.

Great looking rifle.

Thanks man!  I do have a mission at the moment, I am trying to collect ponys for my 4 boys.  Have 3 ponys and 1 Sig, the Sig will become mine, just need another pony on down the road.  I missed a SOCOM with Knights handguard <$900.  Hoping I can find another deal some time soon.
