Does it take any getting used to the optic being that far forward? If I put one on my AK it's going to have to go up front like that.

No. It's not magnified so it doesn't affect sight picture. The benefit is that you get a wider field of view because the optic body is not so close it blocks out the side field of view as much. The drawback is that it puts a little more weight out front and AK's tend to be a bit front heavy as is.

You really don't have to get used to it. The optic is that far forward so that a cowitness can be achieved with the red dot and iron sights.

Sweet, I will have to order one my mine.

Its best if you have the Ultimack railed gas tube. It sets the red dot lower so you get the cowitness. If you have a rail on top of your stock gas tube it may not cowitness because the red dot will be set too high above the irons.

Here is a picture of one like Bret built for me. I picked out that funky ACU furniture package. I know some will not like it , but I do.
