Different subject ever month, ie, pistol( revolver, semi auto and single shot), rifle(bolt, single and semi auto), game, targets,

reloads and the list can go on and on.

We would "poll" for the topic of the month.

This would take 2 threads, one for the photos and one for the comments.

We could vote or pick a member to pick the winner, my idea is the winner be the one to pick the winner for the next month.

What yall say?

Sounds interesting but I'm not following how the two threads would work since some people might want to comment on a specific photo. Would you still comment in the photo thread or just the comment thread? I've had head congestion for several days so that's my excuse if this is clear to everyone else. We do something like this on the Harley forum, but we do it each week.  Why each week?  Because the goal is to give people reasons to go out and shoot more often if they can.  I know for me, I kind of get bored if I have to wait a month for something new.  Maybe a week is too short, but a month seems like a long time for me.  I would participate either way probably, but we need something to keep it new and fresh with a reason for people to continue participating.

The other thing I like about ours is the person that creates the challenge also picks some item that must be included in the photo.  In ours we do something like sunglasses on the seat or whatever just to sort of validate that the pictures are current.  I guess it depends what goal you want to achieve.  Honestly, I don't know how it would work for firearms, but maybe something to consider.

I would make it one thread.  Keeping track of multiple threads would be very difficult in my opinion.  It's hard enough to keep up with one.

I think the previous winner picking the new winner is a good idea.  I think voting can turn into who likes who the most.  This is a pretty straightforward bunch so that probably wouldn't be too much of an issue.

Comments in the pic thread makes a mess of things, you just copy and past from pic thread to comments thread.

The month long gives more members time to get a pic done, but I could go with the flow.

I like the idea of  validate that the pictures are current, a dated target is what I was thinking.

Lets see how many post and get some more ideas, and it does not have to firearm only, cars, boats, 4 wheelers, BUT NOT JEEPS

Just joking David.

You thinking it would be for who had the best gun porn or are the points for creativity?

I would say both, however if the content is to be semi auto rifle and a full auto is posted, well that would be out side the rule of "semi".

There are so many items we could pick, short barrel revolver, DA, SA, just so many.

A moderately less competitive option for a thread is the "take a picture of 'x'" thread. Where the first poster starts, then names the next thing (random item, object or whatever) that's reasonably commonplace.

I also don't think that subject matter should be limited to firearms. There are plenty of other things common to our community that can sit as subjects. Favorite pen, knife, watch, tools in the garage, target after a range trip, what's in your pockets?, snack food, dinner, or any other meal. Favorite beverage - be it water, Coke, or some other libation could also stand in.

Get some photos going!

I never said it had to be just firearms, that is was just me putting out ideas, any subject will OK.

Just need a lot of help getting it going, and at this rate it wont get going till next year.
