Any other place?

Recommended Posts

I finished my HCP class friday and went to the Strawplains DMV to pay my $115.00 and get the list to go get finger printed. When I pulled up there was a line out on to the sidewalk. There is no way possible my body will let me stand up anywhere near that long, not to mention my depends would be full and I would be soaked with urine way before I got in the door. I have to self cath due to my injury back in 2007. Is there any other place I can go to get this last step of getting my HCP done? I have tried to find if I can do it online but have had no luck. I live in Knox County so I assume I have to go to the DMV in the county I live in, is this correct? I don't know how I'm going to get this done other than buy a wheelchair and then I don't know how I will catheter while in line.

Bit of a drive, but Maryville is likely closest full service DMV where it's not mobbed. I did a CDL renewal there in July, in and out in less than 20 min, and no  line to stand in, got right in the door and sit while you wait. Probably best not to be there right at opening time would be my guess.

I cannot help regarding a better location in that part of the state, but I can clarify that you do not have to use a location in your county. I used a location in an adjacent county because the locations in my county generally have really long lines.

Congrats on getting this far!

A bit of a drive also but the one in Athens can do it and I've never had to wait more than 15 mins sitting in a chair. When my wife did hers they did all the paper work and out the door in ten minutes with a number to call and a address for prints. I called the number in the parking lot and drove about five minutes down the road and she did the prints.

That's a lot farther than Maryville for him.

For my CDL, didn't realize it could only be done at a full service station, had popped in to a west Knoxville satellite one. They suggested the Maryville location. Nobody in the know goes to the Staw Plains location for anything if they can help it.

You might want to check out the DMV in Clinton (Charles Seviers Blvd). I went there last year to renew my CDL. Try to go when school is in session so there is not a bunch of teenagers getting permits.

That's likely another good choice roughly same distance I'd guess.

I finally got the DMV part done today and did it at the Strawplains office, just got lucky lol. I have an appointment for my fingerprints tomorrow at 1:50pm. and the lady at the DMV said it would take 4-6 weeks for it to come in the mail after fingerprinting. I wore my holster for my Bersa .40cal all day today, carried the gun in it while I was at home. I wanted to see how bad my "love handles" got in the way, lol. It feels good and had no problems with my seatbelt or anything. I probably won't carry like that alot but you never know. I'm still leaning towars concealed, in my pocket, carry.

Hey folks, as far as I know, I am done! I did my fingerprints today and the website where I made the appointment to have them done says I can track the progress up until I receive it in the mail. I start the waiting game now. Also, I want to thank ya'll again for giving me options where to go to and for all your help in general.
