IDPA Match on Saturday Nov. 22'nd, and 29'th at Green River Gun Club of Bowling Green

Recommended Posts

Green River Gun Club of Bowling Green Kentucky will host their last two IDPA matches of the year on Saturdays November 22 and November 29 (weather permitting).

November 22'nd will be a regular IDPA match. Five stages, approximatley 90 rounds.

November 29'th will be a "club" BUG match, so you don't have to shoot a BUG ( A BUG is defined as any ceterfire handgun with a barrel length less than 3" for a revolver and 3.8" for a pistol) you can shoot any centerfire handgun and will be placed into an appropriate division(ESP, CDP, SSP, SSR, ESR, BUG revolver, or BUG pistol)

The "BUG" matches are primarily for two purposes . . . to get experience with our BackUp Guns or carry guns, and to introduce new shooters or CCW holders to shooting.

In terms of equipment and rules, a BUG match is about as easy as it gets.

For the ordinary Club" level IDPA BUG matches . . .

You need a centerfire Pistol or Revolver, ammunition, and a bag, holster or gun rug to transport your unloaded firearm to the shooting bays.

You only load 5 rounds per stage.  (So you don't need extra magazines or speed loaders.)

You start from "Low Ready".  (So you don't even need a holster, or to practice drawing from one.)

You only need about 75 rounds.   (You'll probably need less than 50, but bring a few extra just in case a stage prop malfunctions and you need to reshoot a stage.)

The targets are usually MUCH closer than the normal IDPA match.

If you've never shot anything like an IDPA or USPSA type match before . . . this is your best choice for an entry point.

You don't "have" to bring a small BackUp Gun, you "can" bring your .45 1911 . . . but even with that, you'll still only be loading to 5 rounds.  So you, and everyone else, will be "on par" with each other.
Stop by and try it.  Its usually well attended.  With shooters of ALL levels.  Come see what its all about.

I had a good time shooting the match. Good bunch. I was a little rusty with my CDP gun. But it seemed to get better as the day went on. Had two rounds fail to seat. Maybe the ammo or a dirty chamber. I'll be back.

Hope you didn't have any trouble finding your way home. Glad you could make it, I'll look for you next week at the BUG match.

Thanks to all who attended. Sorry for the late start and the technical difficulties with the Nooks.

Hand gun scores are up on Practiscore and on the GRGC website.

Rifle scores are on the GRGC website.

Special thanks to Greg for getting ALL the stages on the nooks and getting them sync'ed (sunk, sunked , or whatever).

Don't forget next Saturday (11/29) is our last match of the year and it is a BUG match (you don't have to shoot a BUG, but BUG rules will apply to all divisions).

We are working on next years schedule and looking at running some 2 gun matches (rifle, & handgun) in addition to IDPA if there is enough interest.
