This is a great story....world war II buff's will like

This is an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII-only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

The book "Unbroken" is an incredibly powererful account of Mr. Zamperini's inner strength to survive and his ability to inspire others.

A two hour or so length movie will hopefully wet viewers appetite to sit down with the greater depth that the book will provide.

I saw a special many months ago featuring Mr. Zamperini that included an appearance by Angelina Joelie (sp?). She managed to give the impression she was the one who brought his story to light. No reference to Laura Hildebrand the book's author at all. 😡 Edited by Djay3

Just got back from the movie and it was fantastic, they did a great job of keeping this in line with a docudrama and not much added for cinematic value.  Would put it in the same class as Schindler's List, except without the mass execution part.

P.S. Zamperini was a BMF

I also saw the movie yesterday but had a different view. In short, this film is unremarkable and I went in spite of the reviews that generally were very critical. If you read the book you will be quite disappointed. The writing, acting, directing were all weak IMO. There is no depth to his relationships with his family and others especially Phil, the pilot of his downed plane and fellow survivor. About 80% of the film covers his time in the life raft and prison camps. For sure these were important milestones in Zamperini's life but the movie simply doesn't do justice to him. Admittedly, adapting great stories from book to screen is difficult and this one doesn't come close.
