Park Bill Fiscal Note

Recommended Posts

The NRA sponsored HB 995 Park carry bill now has a fiscal note.  Take a look at for yourself but it looks like a stall tactic to kill the bill again this year.  There is no requirement in the bill to replace any signs in parks but TDEC is claiming that the bill requires park sign changes.  Folks may want to get further information about this fiscal note and verify if this is just another stall tactic.

The bill is in this link.  If you look, there is no requirement in the bill to change park signs.

If you look at the HB 274 park bill, there is no fiscal affect.  If that is the case, NRA needs to get behind this bill instead.

I am sure you are aware but currently you are allowed to carry w/ handgun carry permit in TN state parks. I am aware this bill impacts more than TN state parks and local parks which TDEC contributes funding to. The signs TDEC is referring to do need to be changed in state parks but agree I dont see anything in the bill requiring them to do that.

OS noted this exact possibility in another thread contrasting Goins' bill (HB 0274) to 0995.  I see that Goins has put his bill back on notice, and its scheduled to be taken up with every other firearms bill on 3/11.

As far as what good NRA backing one or another will do...well...and the horse they rode in on, too...
