Haslam Opposes 11 Gun Bills

Recommended Posts

I don't think the other guy, McWherter, would have been any better as far as gun rights.  I'd say in the first election it was the flip of a coin.  The second election another flip of a coin gun rights wise between Haslam and the Democrat.

Bredesen was very lukewarm towards gun rights too.

I'm a firm believer politicians are a do as I say not as I do bunch of losers. I don't believe any of those dipsticks have what's in our best interests at heart...only what makes them a ton on money and gains them influence. Haslam is a fool like the rest of them.

Something else that is very interesting is how most politicians become extremely wealthy within the first term even though they only make $200K a year. I realize most are rich before they get into office but they get a lot richer because of all the back room dealings going on.

Very true but Haslam was already beyond rich before holding office.  He also takes no salary as Governor.  Pretty sure he did the same when Mayor of Knoxville.  One of the few ultra wealthy that does that.

I sorta view that as saying "I don't need your stinking money so I'll do what I want".

At least Ned Ray was likeable.

Interesting perspective. I think when Margaret Thatcher was PM she drew a minimal salary so at least she was technically in the employ of the people.

While Haslam is a reprehensible turd, he is NOT the major problem.  Pay close attention to your representatives and Senators who march to his orders - you can (and should) affect THEIR fate, regardless of what King Billy says/does.

Maybe we need to do like Colorado did and do a recall on Haslam.  If our elected officials are not doing what we hired them to do then maybe its time they look for a new job.  I think this would be a wakeup call to those under him too.

He is a very popular centrist governor so he'd weather a recall easy enough.

I found it odd that when Haslam was mayor of Knoxville, he was a member of Bloonbergs Mayors Against Guns but when he started his campaign for Gov, he suddenly was a lifetime member of the NRA.

He's not a Leopard so of course he can change his spots according to what is needed to accomplish the goal he was seeking. I thought every politician did that. It's just like to Fork Tongue dialog and the Speaks out both sides of their mouth depending on who they are speaking to................jmho

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that we do not have a recall option in the Tennessee Constitution.

Bredensen didn't take any salary all the time he was Governor either. He made that quite clear when he was running that he would be working as Governor for the people for free and he did................... :ugh: :2cents:

I think before we look at a recall we might need to look at what choices we would have to replace him with!!!!!!!!!!...............jmho

You are correct.  I believe locals can be recalled but not state officials....as far as TN state code goes.

I called his eminence's office when he was mayor of Knoxville and asked about the MAIG thing.  Girl on the phone handed me BS about how Haslem did not join that group, someone who was no longer on his staff signed him up.  And she was sure to stress how big a 2A supporter he is.

I did not believe any of it.

Nothing will change as long as people refuse to admit that they are willingly being duped by the two-party system.  As long as folks keep voting for Republicans and Democrats, this is what you will continue to see.  Remember, the lesser of two evils is still evil.
