Some clues for my next project

Recommended Posts

Not really sure at this point but a Howdah type 12 gauge pistol would be cool. It would have to be an AOW but that is not my intention, at least not right now. My intention is a integrally suppressed shotgun to shoot that will shoot subsonic 4 ounce bullets quietly. Imagine how devastating it would be to have a hollow point that is 5/16" wide and 3/4" deep. And who knows, depending on the weapon I end up using I might load some 1 ounce slugs to 2,500 fps.

And because it is a "gauge", not a caliber, it is perfectly legal with its .73" bullet.

I guess you've looked into it, but is the resultant "cartridge" going to fit under however they define a "slug"?  Meaning if bullet sticks out the end, is it still a "slug"?

Basis for question is that way back when rifled barreled shotguns were first proposed, they fit under the DD >.5" barrel thing, and ATF gave ruling  that ones that shot "shotshell slugs" were still considered shotguns and not classed as DDs.
